The flight to the grand canyon was amazing. The views were great and the sunset made it even better. Our pilot Miguel was great pointing out all the different sights and even explaining how to fly the helicopter.

Amazing experience
On July 24th we did a helicopter tour with Papillon from Las Vegas to the western part of the Grand Canyon. We very much enjoyed the flight, the scenery and the music during the flight was exceptional and very fitting. The company of our pilot Rafael was educational, funny and entertaining. We selected the flight where we had a landing and small picnic in the canyon. Flying back to Las Vegas we saw the sunset and were able to fly over the Strip as the sun dropped and the lights of Vegas came on. It was an amazing experience!

Extremely poor organization!
No advance information regarding physical condition required to walk down (and back up) 7 flights of stairs from the helicopter to the boat. Mind you this was in 108 deg. heat. Even the physically fit struggled as much as my 73 year old broken body. Other helicopter operators into the canyon switched the seating assignments so that everyone would have a chance to sit upfront, but not this operator, if you are assigned a middle seat in the back you will be there for the entire time with no view! At the Sky walk and at Guano point no tour operator personal present, you will need to ask for directions, assistance and help from there competitors. For the price we paid I would have appreciated the pick up and drop off at our hotel and not at a nearby hotel (25 min walk). This was our 3rd. Helicopter flight into the Grand Canyon and most certainly the most disappointing.

We enjoyed the helicopter flight and we’re glad we could still fly despite the wildfire in the Grand Canyon area and the related weather conditions. But the refund handling was disappointing. We booked a 40–50 min tour for 4 people ($1,620.40). Due to the conditions, we were offered only shorter 25–30 min tour, and the staff on site promised to refund the full difference. They should have refunded $544. Initially, I received $224.40, and after my request they sent an additional $99.60 — still short of the full amount and without ever replying to my email or explaining the difference. I am still missing $220. UPDATE: Following the company’s reply to my review, I sent all the requested information on August 22, 2025, including the booking details, refund amounts and the original email with my calculation. Since then, I have not received any response or clarification from the company.

Flyover was cancelled 2hours prior
We were very excited to ride a helicopter over the Hoover Dam and Las Vegas strip. It was going to be a highlight of our visit. The company, Papillon Helicopters, called about 2 hrs prior to the time we were scheduled to fly to CANCEL. I was told that The reason for them canceling was because they were not able to get other customers to go. I am very disappointed. However They did try to get us booked on another day but our schedule was already full and they couldn’t accommodate a flyover the very next day, which would have been acceptable. Maybe next time. Maybe next time They promised a speedy full refund back to my credit card. I do not see anything yet in my account. This could be because it’s the weekend. I will check again during the week days.

But I ended up feeling completely safe the entire time and I would attribute that to the excellence of this company and particularly our pilot. They explain everything really clearly in terms of safety and rules, and the ride is just really cool. We had Raphael as our pilot, and he was kind and helpful with getting in/out of the plane and telling us fun facts along the way. The people who helped outside of the plane as well were all helpful and patient with anyone who needed extra assistance. All of the staff checked in routinely to make sure we were hydrated, safe, feeling good, etc… the view was breathtaking and incredible on all fronts. I 100% recommend this company to anyone planning on visiting the Grand Canyon!! I would honestly come back just for this, and request the same pilot again! Such a great experience!
