My husband and I took our 2 teenage boys for a half day rafting trip this week. We had a blast largely because of our guide, Bode. He was so personal, calling us by name, engaging in conversation and telling us about the area all while keeping us safe down the river. He was incredible with the kids giving them the opportunity to play games in the mild sections like standing on the bow while the boat worked to spin them off. My boys LOVED that part and Bode made it happen. 10/10 recommend getting out on the water with Mild to Wild!

The river east trip was fun and relaxing! Very beautiful scenic float! Our guide Seth was knowledgeable and consistently mindful of everyone’s safety. We loved the experience!

Great trip! Despite it being incredibly windy and me having my kiddos with me who may have not been the best rowers, Miles was incredibly patient and kind and even let them squirt him with their water cannons multiple times. It WAS hot but some may have gotten annoyed but he didn’t and took it graciously. It was a great starter rapids trip for the fam!

We loved our trip. The rafting was fine. We felt safe. But. OMG. Body is a gem. First of all he knew what he was doing. He has solid skills. But he was so relational and made us all laugh. Keep that one.

We had a fantastic experience with Mild to Wild Rafting! Booking in advance was super easy, and they communicated clearly with helpful updates leading up to the trip, which made the whole process stress-free. The rafting itself was a blast—safe, fun, and well-organized from start to finish. A big shoutout to our guide, Jonathan, who went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, especially my 12-year-old niece. He struck the perfect balance between fun and safety, and his calm, confident approach helped her feel secure the entire time. Highly recommend Mild to Wild for families or anyone looking for an unforgettable outdoor adventure.

We had a fantastic time on our half-day jeep tour of La Playa Canyon. Tosh was our guide and he was fantastic! He was very personable and had a great sense of humor. He was knowledgeable of the flora and fauna of the region. Tosh also answered all questions asked with great enthusiasm. I would highly recommend Mild to Wild to anyone interested in having a great adventure.

Two people from my family contracted food poisoning from one of the restaurants in town and had to cancel the raft trip. I had booked this five days in advance and didn’t get a refund. So I was out over $200 even though we were still using just two rafts. The cost for 11 people was almost $1400. They do not have any leeway for unexpected illness. Nor could I get a future trip for the two people who canceled. Mild to Wild staff was quite blunt about it. Also, after the three hour trip, we were so tired, thirsty (they do not provide water or any drinks; it is very hot in Durango in the summer, so be sure to bring lots of water which they didn’t tell us about !!) and we were ready to get on the bus to go back at the end of the day. But we had to wait a LONG time for the raft guides to load all the rafts. It was very hot in the sun on the blazing burning pavement with very little shade for all the crowds. Again, no water available. People were feeling like they were going to pass out. Mild to Wild should have a bus there ready to take people back immediately. Also, the bus does not have air-Conditioning. And no water available on the bus either; it’s a 20-30 minute drive back to your parking area. There are no water fountains at Mild to Wild. Basically bring a gallon or two for each person if you’re going to do the half-day trip. The guides expect gratuity and don’t hesitate to “joke” about how poor they are and that they depend on these tips. The raft trip itself was scenic. There was one class three rapid, but everything else quite mild and safe.

We took the 1/4 raft trip since that is the only trip that fit in our vacation. We LOVED every minute of it! Our guide, Sammy K., was amazing and so fun! You could tell she was very experienced and knew exactly what to do and explained each part of the trip down the river! Even though I was a little nervous for the big rapids, I ended up enjoying the whole thing. Even the “slow” parts of the river she made fun for my four boys by having them play a few different games. I would highly recommend Mild to Wild for any rafting trip! We would go again next time we are in the area.

Jeep and train tour - Durango/Silverton
What a beautiful area and so much mining history. Our guide Kat was great and shared so much knowledge with us along the way in our jeep tour. My daughter had suddenly got a little altitude sickness and Kat was great with getting her feeling better and completing the days trip. Highly recommend the jeep and train tour!

Upper Animas Whitewater
I went on the one-day Upper Animas trip in June, and it was incredible. My previous whitewater rafting experiences have varied in difficulty, so I initially felt some trepidation, but it turns out I didn't need to worry -- I'm so glad I got to go on this experience! To prepare, we (my group and I) went through an orientation the day before the trip to make sure we would be safe (and to be fitted for our gear). Plus, our guide(s) always gave clear instructions before the trip and while on the water. Our guides for the day were Nathaniel, Trey, Riley, and Jason. They worked so hard to make sure that my group had a wonderful trip. (Learning they love their profession so much, that they buy all their own gear in order to be able to do their job just makes them more admirable. By the by: tip your guides! They truly earn it.)

We have a special needs adult that we thought would limit this activity. We talked about limitations and risks. Was great fun for all! Just right mix of rapids and mild river. Toby was 10/10 guide that made the trip. Highly recommend

Great jeep tour in the mountains
These folks did a fantastic job at every step of the way. They communicated timely and clearly and made everything so smooth. For example, I was going to go get my phone with the bar code when we went to check in but she had already got us all set up after she asked for our names. Larry was a great guide: he was very personable and shared a lot of history and tidbits with us. Even a couple of special views and mysteries! All in all, a very enjoyable and pleasant time. We've already been talking about doing the rafting on our next Durango visit.
