My friends and I booked a guided boat tour of the Na Pali (Napali) coast through Makana Charters & Tours, and it was the highlight of our trip. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKANA and would totally rebook the same tour next time. The captain was so skilled navigating the caves and waterfalls, and our guide was so respectful and knowledgeable of the area, Hawaiian culture, and the history of the land. He was so very friendly and even took song requests towards the end. We received a modest sandwich (that we preordered) and chips, which was perfect because the meal wasn't heavy or overwhelming for an afternoon on the boat (~5 hours). Na Pali is breathtaking, and the Makana boat charter is the absolute best way to see the beauty of the entire coastline because the boat can access a lot of portions that you can't hike to. We went in February, and we saw countless whales and dolphins, which was an extra bonus! Friendly reminder: The Makana team provides excellent tips and instructions ahead of time, and this information will only help and enhance your experience (hat, sunscreen, motion sickness, and more). Please review that information... Several folks aboard didn't, and one was miserably ill most of the time and three people lost their hats due to the wind. Lastly, we boarded our boat from the Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor which has vehicle parking, covered seating, and bathrooms.

Epic! This tour of the Napali Coast not only provided spectacular views of the cliffs and coastline, but multiple sightings of mother whales teaching their babies to breach, spinning dolphins following our boat, turtles, and even goats on the cliffs. Our crew was attentive and informative, and our captain went out of his way to ensure our experience was not only beautiful but educational.

This was worth it all! We saw dolphins, whales, but the history was my favorite! So fun to swim in the middle of the ocean. 10 for 10 recommend!

One of the best tour I have ever been on my life. The staffs are so attentive. The view is majestic and so magical. Worth every penny! I highly recommend. We get to see a bunch of and dolphins. The best part is also jumping in the ocean with Napali coast in the background🩷

Great way to spend the day

Great day on the water. The guides were great. The boat had everything we needed and we had an amazing time. The coastline is awesome and the captain was able to teach us a ton of cultural and historical facts. I think there was urine all over the boat with everyone wetting their pants over the wildlife. We saw turtles, a monk seal, hundreds of spinner dolphins that came right up to the boat and tons of whales. The highlight was seeing a mom and her baby playing and breaching the water. Definitely worth the trip.

Highly recommend Makana Charters, Captain John, and first mate Tony! We had a bluebird day, but it was still quite rough out there. Definitely take your seasickness meds seriously! Captain John did a very impressive job of smoothing the ride as best he could, and his driving skills were on full display when we backed into one of the caves. SUPER exciting, entertaining, and a great way to see the Napali Coast. We did both the helicopter tour, and this boat tour. If I had to pick one, I’d pick the Makana boat tour. Pictures just can’t do it justice!

It was an amazing tour! The crew was so professional, they were very attentive to every passenger on the boat, told many interesting facts and made the trip entertaining and fascinating! While our tour we saw sea turtles, several kinds of dolphins, and even whales! It was truly incredible! The boat is sailing so smooth that you will not feel any seasickness. I really love the tour and will book from Makana charters again!

Run don't walk to take a cruise with Makana Charters!!!! My husband and I had the best afternoon with captains Tim and Leroy! We loved every minute of our adventure. We were blessed with the sight of many whales, dolphins and the most beautiful Napi coast! Both captains were so kind and treated everyone as honored guests. Leroy did the best job teaching us about the history of the Hawaiian people on the Napi coast.It was fascinating and BEAUTIFUL! Thank you Captains Tim and Leroy for a special memorys we will never forget!!
