Don’t waste your money. A large percentage of animals are nocturnal so you see very little and as the zoo closes at 5pm with many walkways closing just after 4pm it is unlikely you will see anything. . My understanding of a sanctiuary is the animals live as natural a life as possible. This is not the case here they are in essence caged. In my opinion this is an expensive walk around empty caged areas.

This is NOT a sanctuary

This not a sanctuary this is a zoo. The definition of a sanctuary is a safe place to live in a normal habitat. This is NOT normal. The enclosures are way too small so the animals can’t move around naturally. My heart went out to the koalas who were at eye level on nothing more that perches in the middle of a cafe. This is not natural and definitely not how a sanctuary should operate. As we walked around many of the enclosures were empty as the animals are nocturnal which for us led to a very disappointing visit. Wouldn’t say it was good value for money.

We took our two 2 year old grandsons for a visit. The park is excellent. The boys had a good time exploring. They were able to touch a Koala and Kangaroos. I hope they have great memories of the experience. It is not cheap to visit. You pay extra for many things. We were lucky because kids under 3 years of age get free entry.

Purchased tickets online the day before visiting, this helped streamline the day at Lone Pine Sanctuary with no waiting in lines and one scan at the gate entrance for all of our group. Well worth the visit with life time fun memories being made.

Koalas and Roos

Because we were staying in the city and didn’t rent a car this was an excellent avenue for us to see Australian wildlife all in one spot. It was an amazing place to go and wander around and we thought we would stay for two hours. We were there for five. There’s a lot to see and do wonderful for children as well.

Must do in Brisbane!

Coming from the UK, seeing Australian wildlife is always top of the agenda for our trips to this incredible country. I understand it is getting increasingly more difficult to spot ‘wild’ wildlife, so to visit something like this sanctuary is essential. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was a wonderful experience. It is clearly a well managed and funded facility. We have a love for koalas in particular and there were at least 30 of these amazing animals in the Koala Forest at the back of the dining area. I think our timing was very fortunate, as the keepers were changing their eucalyptus leaf supplies and they were very much moving around and wide awake, which was an awesome sight. We also saw plenty of kangaroos, tree kangaroos, birds, including the magnificent cassowary and emu, dingos, crocs, platypus and other reptiles and amphibians. Unfortunately it was a hot day so the Tassie Devils and wombats were out of view at the time. Worth the entrance fee just to have spent the time watching the koalas!

My wife and I went during the week. There were quite a few school children there, so was quite noisy, mainly teachers and staff speaking loudly to keep their attention. $55 each to get in plus about $35 each for a petting experience. Worth it to get close to the animals, but could be an expensive experience.

Watch all special animals in one day

I love to watch the animals in their natural habitat, it is not possible to see rare animals like Platypus, koalas, echidnas in their natural habitat in one day but this sanctuary made it possible.
