Went there for the koala moment. This was very disappointing. You get a few minutes to pet a koala in a staged surrounding. The rest of the sanctuary such as the sheep and dog show and especially feeding the kangaroos is so much more fun and worth it. Would go again but not do the koala moment.

CRUEL - don't go
The koalas are in very small pens surrounded on 4 sides by people viewing them. The pens have concrete floors and stink of urine. My heart was broken seeing these lovely creatures cooped up like this. The crocodile was on its own on filthy water - ive had more water in a bath. Kangaroos we're treated marginally better. Don't go here. Go to Phillip Island Koala Conservation Centre instead and see these creatures in comfort in their natural habitat.

Definitely bring: umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, water bottle Cannot miss: feeding kangaroos, wallabies and emus. Koala encounter. We didn’t take the ferry to the sanctuary because the weather didn’t permit, and I’m glad because we spent about 4 and a half hours there. Apparently if you take the ferry then you spend 2-3 hours there. I’d say 4-5 is a better day out at the sanctuary. The animals are so well looked after and their enclosures are world class. Would recommend this for a great family day out and to all tourists wanting to have an unforgettable memory of Australia.
