Absolutely recommend a day at Lone Pine!
Hands-down a bucket list experience suitable for all ages. Very easy to get to via public transportation (Bus line 430) from the city — bus stop is right at the sanctuary. Enjoyed seeing the exotic animals especially all the koalas not in cages and the kangaroos out in the open where you can feed them! Happy to support this wonderful cause.

I expected a real sanctuary, but what I found felt much more like a zoo – which was very sad. Not all but many of the animals had very little space, and the echidna was clearly distressed, pacing up and down the enclosure. When I was there I realized that you can pay to touch koalas, which is not acceptable in my opinion. They also had very small enclosures without real trees. There were also birds and reptiles which are kept in extremely small cages and I am sorry for those poor animals. Everyone has to decide for themselves what they support but I will not go there again as I avoid and do not support zoos.

(Translated by Google) Somehow, this place made us more sad than happy. Yes, it's well known that you can have your picture taken with koalas here, but the fact that they're merely placed on branches in small enclosures with a few eucalyptus twigs really upset us. At least the koala cuddling has been discontinued. Since it was rated as good from an animal welfare perspective, we were expecting a large enclosure with eucalyptus trees where you might see koalas, even if only by luck. That's our impression, as we came here with a different idea. The other enclosures, especially the bird enclosure, also seemed very small and rather uninteresting for the animals. The only large area is the one for the kangaroos and wallabies, but there are no places for the animals to retreat to. The animals are surrounded by hordes of families and constantly fed. All in all, the whole place didn't feel like a sanctuary to us, but more like an exhibition space. 💔😔😢

(Translated by Google) A truly heartbreaking place. Cramped little cages for birds. Koalas in tiny enclosures, gawked at. Everything is geared towards making money. I'm so angry that I supported this. I imagined a wildlife sanctuary would have large trees where they live, in large open spaces. Awful 😢😢😢😢 (Original) Ein super trauriger Ort. Schlimm 😢😢😢😢

Would highly recommend visiting the sanctuary if it’s your first time here in Brisbane. Tickets were about $60AUD we attended all the free shows that were offered. You can literally spend all day there if you have the time. We were able to feed a few of the kangaroos that were roaming around. However, most of them were not hungry anymore at the time we were there and they just wanted to nap 😂 The koalas were super cute. There were probably more than 50 for you to see. You can pay a little extra to hug and feed them.
