Thought we were booking through TripAdvisor, but they were two parties removed from the providerThought we were booking

I rated it as a 1 because we were unable to communicate with the tour operator. It is a long complicated story: it was pouring rain here in Prague and we replied to a TripAdvisor email we received two hours prior to the tour. From the information provided in this email we tried texting and calling the numbers provided to see if the tour was still on. We tried from two different cell phones and just kept getting messages in Czech that the call could not go through. So we called an Uber and went to the meeting spot, but due to the weather, we were 10 minutes late. No one at the meeting spot knew if the tour had been there, but a young girl helped us by going directly to the Eat Europe site, calling them and giving them our booking reference. The agent said she would contact the guide and get back to us. We never heard back. We kept checking emails/texts and nothing. Two hours into the tour we did get an email from TripAdvisor saying they have been sending us updates but we didn’t get them. The problem is that it wasn’t TripAdvisor sending them or Eat Europe, rather the messages came via Viator Chat. I have the TripAdvisor app and the Eat Europe app, but I did not have the Viator for I had no idea they were even involved. This tour cost us almost $600 Canadian for four people. We made every effort to get there and every effort to talk to someone. We wandered around in the rain for two hours looking for them. We know the cancellation policy, but this was truly out of our control. We were told, should we wish to take the tour another night, they would only penalize us €20 per person but have moved on to Amsterdam. So now they say absolutely no refund. First of all, I think it’s very shoddy business. I would recommend that people do as we usually do and book directly through Guru, Sandemann or Viator, etc., and NOT through TripAdvisor. With these many parties involved, it gets too confusing and the potential for a mixup is extreme. What would make us happy? Well we know we’re not going to get a full refund even though it wasn’t our fault but we would appreciate the second option which is being penalized €20 and being refunded the remainder. FYI, the unused ticket sits in my Apple wallet yet I’ve had two emails asking me to rate our experience. Just shows how detached TripAdvisor is from all of this.

Experience Lisbon as a local

Carlo was the best host - fun personality with very good knowledge and information. Venues we visited were great authentic experiences that you would not have discovered without the tour. Food and wine were delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

Walk, Eat, Drink!

If you want a gastronomical experience that includes wine/beer and history of Lisbon, those tour is just what you are looking for! Host - Gabe - was OUTSTANDING, learned, personable and extremely connected to the establishments we visited! Every mortal was delicious. Every sip was a flavor bomb. Shorts walks in between to see the sights. Highly recommended tour, worth every Euro!

Foodie fun!

Jacob was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable about the area, the food and thoughtful to everyone in the group. My only suggestion would be to offer water or a substantial beverage like a beer or a wine (not a shot) at each stop.

Best food tour

Amazing food all around. Even as a picky eater…everything was very enjoyable. Wine was great but the best part was Carlos the tour guide.

Fun and tasty outing with excellent guide

Oliver, our guide, was wonderful. It was a rainy night and he came equipped with extra umbrellas, which was VERY helpful. The tour itself was fun and Oliver filled us with lots of fun facts, information and history. The drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) and food were very tasty and different. A delightful evening and would highly recommend to all adults. Thank you Oliver!

Anyone interested in eating authentic tastes of Lisbon with a knowledgeable, warm and friendly host should book this tour with Fred. The restaurants are terrific- small, local gems we would never have found them on our own, and the selections took us to interesting neighborhoods we will definitely revisit. Delicious, wide range of food, excellent wines and treats and great company with a Lisbon native- and a comfortable walking route. Thank you Fred, you are an outstanding guide!

Lunch with a friend !

You will experience immersion into the local culture while eating a diverse variety of foods, as you wander peacefully with a lovely guide who is both, knowledgeable and kind. Our experience gave us an opportunity to meet locals and see more of the neighborhoods versus all the commercial sites that most people go to. The added bonus was making a new friend with our sweet guide Elena❤️

Caterina was an amazing guide. We were treated to amazing food in places we would have otherwise overlooked. We learned history, politics, music, and more about Portugal. Highly recommend for first timers to the city as you learn the area and all the hotspots

Don’t eat before going on this tour

We always like to book a food tour when we are away and this one didn’t disappoint us, lots of local restaurants and interesting facts, my 1 bit of advice is don’t eat before going on this tour you get lots of lovely food to eat.

Has the most amazing time with my family (mom, dad, 3 girls in their 20s for reference). Carlos was our guide and I couldn’t recommend him more. I am gluten free and he made accommodations at each stop so I could still participate with my family. I can’t thank him enough for helping us create such a beautiful memory together. He also made a point to do something special for those celebrating their birthdays this month. The food was amazing, the company was amazing, and I can’t believe it’s already over. You won’t regret booking this tour ! Ps: get ready to eat and drink, drink, drink (non-alcoholic options available)

Ok. Pay attention. The tour with Amanda was by far the best thing we did in Lisbon. Great food and wine and visiting parts of the city that you wouldn’t normally see. This is an absolute must do.

Best Lisbon food tour

First time in Portugal with family& Carlos (our guide) was exceptional. Each stop included not only a delicious bite and drink, but a special backstory which truly brought character to every place visited. Food/drinks portions were more than generous and extremely tasty! Beyond the food tour, Carlos gave us additional information/recommendations about portugal which made this the perfect experience to start our vacation! Also my mom had mentioned it was mine and my sisters birthday and Carlos had surprised me us with a desert w candles (see photo in review). Such a special experience

Our tour leader Miri was fantastic. So energized and happy. All of the food stops were fabulous. Some of course better than others. Each unique and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour. Do it at the beginning of your Rome trip so you can come back and dine at these fabulous restaurants.
