What we didn’t realise because we hasn’t checked opening times and just assumed though, is that it is closed on a Monday for half of the day and wouldn’t open until later that afternoon and we had to drive 4 hours back to the airport. Luckily we managed to get onto the grounds through a gate that had been left open by some construction workers, however there isn’t much to see. The best view we got was actually across the road, up a steep path - it was so steep that we only managed a few steps up. If you go to the front of the castle, cross over, there is a little stream and a grazing field, above you’ll see a cross in the mountains; go along to that mountain and if you have the nerve, stamina and ability, you can walk up it and you’ll be rewarded with a excellent view of the castle. Want to gutted about not going in after that.
