Definitely not worth the hype! It was very crowded and although somewhat impressive on the outside, the inside was quite mundane - it felt just like a big cottage. The exhibits were also very cheesy. I think they could do a lot more with the place. One thing I appreciated was that the grounds were very pretty, and despite it being so busy, we got in quickly. We were also told that tickets don't tend to sell out, even on weekends, so we got a ticket pretty quickly. All in all, it was "okay" but I would recommend seeing the pretty towns in Romania instead of this attraction.

I’d put 4 stars but I frankly don’t think it deserved it. I understand that I came on a weekend during the summer—peak popularity time, yes, but the amount of people was genuinely horrific. Could barely walk through the hallways of the castle without a line forming at each turn. The castle itself was ok, at most. Nothing too interesting. Mediocre exhibits of mostly random items that were connected to the actual castle’s backstory with the thinnest thread. I didn’t spend much time inside of the castle itself because I simply couldn’t take it; the smell of people’s BO (because there’s no AC whatsoever), the packed crowds that were only made worse by the small passageways, just overall. I just don’t see the appeal of the castle. Relatively fast entrance, though. Pre-booked the tickets in advance and passed through almost immediately. In the end, I don’t recommend coming here on any day in the summer. Too hot and too crowded.
