One of the most overrated and over-hyped sites I've ever visited (and I've visited a lot!). The castle itself is pretty enough I guess, but the exhibits inside are almost entirely about the royals who lived here in the 20th century ... which makes sense, I guess, because the castle in fact has no connection whatsoever with Dracula the literary character or Vlad the Impaler the historical figure. That's all invented tourist slop, but it seems to have worked: the crowds were unbearable, even on a random weekday in October. My advice would be to skip it, or if you absolutely have to catch a glimpse, just do it from the outside without paying the rather hefty entry fee.

Firstly I must say that you do not need to buy tickets online. It is completely unnecessary and during my time searching for them, I found that many vendors are charging extremely overpriced tickets. You can simply buy tickets at the ticket kiosks at the entrance below the castle. The castle at this moment is decorated for Halloween, fitted with many spooky decorations. Also, I’d like to note that this castle has absolutely nothing to do with Bran Stoker’s Dracula nor Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Țepeș). It is, however, a beautiful place to see and is well worth the visit! This was my second visit, and it was even more enjoyable than the last. All of the employees were pleasant, and the experience was smooth.
