Nel complesso, l’atmosfera mi è sembrata poco coerente con la storia e il fascino che ci si aspetterebbe da un luogo legato alla figura di Dracula. Il prezzo del biglietto è alto rispetto a ciò che viene offerto. L’unico aspetto che ho davvero apprezzato sono stati i camini, tutti diversi per struttura e decorazioni in ogni stanza, un dettaglio interessante e ben curato. Per il resto, se avete la possibilità di visitare altro nei dintorni, potete tranquillamente farne a meno.

The setting in the Transylvanian landscape is picturesque, and the silhouette of the castle itself is striking. That said, the experience does not quite match the myth. If you are travelling all the way from Bucharest specifically for the Dracula atmosphere, expectations may need adjusting. One hopes for something darker, more dramatic, perhaps more ruinous, something that carries a tangible gothic weight. Instead, the interior feels more like a modest historical museum, focused on the real figures who lived there rather than the fictional legend that made it famous. There is educational value, and for those already in the region it is certainly worth a visit. But as a dedicated day trip from Bucharest, it feels somewhat underwhelming relative to the build up. The sense of Dracula is more branding than lived atmosphere. Interesting, yes. Essential, perhaps not.
