After my visit, I learned that Barn Castle was the most popular and most frequently visited attraction among tourists, which left me surprised, astonished, and even disgusted. Setting aside the interminable wait in line to buy tickets, the sheer size of the crowd meant moving at a snail's pace for another few dozen minutes just to get into the castle. The castle's interiors will not impress anyone who has visited even two or three European castles; consequently, the exhibition is rather mediocre and uninteresting. You can view the entire interior in about an hour — and that’s taking into account the crowds everywhere and the very slow pace of movement. The garden by the castle looks much better, and it is also a great spot for taking panoramic photos. Admittedly, they have good sanitary facilities by the castle. The standard admission ticket’s price is 120 RON (€22.50) — far too much for an attraction of this kind. I’ll leave aside the whole Prince Dracula angle — he’s plastered all over every souvenir, mug, and even the pizza slices at nearby stalls. In reality, Dracula likely has very little to do with this place. I went, I saw, and I don't think it's worth the money.

I highly recommend adding Bran's Castle to your itinerary for Romania. Brasov is beautiful and the Bolt to the castle is only 30 minutes from the railway station. Theres a lot of uphill walking and a lot of stairs but it was well worth it! I bought the grand tour but I feel it was unnecessary. You can tour the castle on your own and read everything about what youre looking at. And the tours tend to be too large of a crowd. So just get a ticket and walk the castle yourself. Theres a lot to see around the castle itself. Plenty of vendors and neat trinkets.
