Highly Reccomend

Unbelievable trip that I would highly reccomend to anyone wanting to see Machu Picchu. The Inka Trail is truly the only way to do it. Salkantay was a fabulous tour operator and we had the best guide in Anthony.

Incredible few days

The 4 day classic Inca trail was a really special experience. Trekking through the Andes with awesome views and coming across Inca ruins was so cool. The guide, Anthony, was outstanding and always made sure everyone was happy during the walk. He was able to answer our thousands of questions about not just Inca ruins but Peruvian culture, and was able to make us laugh while doing it! The trail wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be, and the porters were incredible, always having set up our tent before we arrived. The chef served up delicious food that I have no idea how he cooked at a campsite. Overall as good as the Inca trail can get!

An absolutely incredible experience, led by the absolute maestro, Anthony. Guide was incredible, equipment was top tier and the hike was done beautifully. Once in a lifetime (mainly because of all the steps!) experience, made amazing by Salkantay!

An Unforgettable Experience. Exceptional Service and Support!

My spouse and I recently completed the Inca Trail with Salkantay Trekking, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, every logistical detail was handled perfectly. Transfers, entry tickets, train tickets, bus tickets, bag transfer and storage, etc. the tents, sleeping bags and pads were excellent quality and we were comfortable, warm and rested because of it. Our guide, Jorge, was phenomenal. His knowledge of the local flora, fauna, the ancient and current history of the region was truly amazing and added so much depth to the journey. Beyond his tour guide expertise, Jorge is an incredible human being. I was ill the second day, which is by far the hardest day of the climb, and I cannot thank him enough for his care. He looked after me with such patience and encouragement, ensuring I was okay at every step, and he did so without ever making me feel bad for my slower pace. It was a massive comfort to know I was in such capable hands. He simultaneously ensured the rest of the group was having a great experience. The entire team, including the porters and the chef, were top-notch. The food on the trek was excellent, I expected a camp-like cook and fare, but the meals were beautifully presented, with generous family style portions and they were tasty, there was nothing I did not like. When they say a Chef is travelling with you, they mean it! I am gluten intolerant with a peanut allergy, our Chef Edwin had no problems accommodating me. The porters were phenomenal and made sure our stuff arrived and everything was set up for us upon arrival to camp each night. If you are considering this trip, I would recommend this company with no hesitation. Not only did everything go smoothly, but I also feel they treat their staff really well. I will offer a couple of tips; The hike is physically demanding. If you aren’t in reasonably good shape, make sure to put in the time to train before you go—it will make your experience much more enjoyable. Another tip is to ensure that you bring enough soles to tip the porters, chef and guide appropriately. They work really hard to ensure that you have a safe and memorable experience- and they deserve every bit and more. Thank you, Jorge and the whole team, for an incredible adventure!
