Our tours are a combination of train and luxury coach and include a moderate level of physical activity, such as short walks to meeting points etc. Unfortunately even the most modern luxury coaches (buses) are not wheelchair friendly, thus our tours are not suitable for those with mobility issues, and regretfully walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on our tours.
Traveler reviews
Couldn't have been better!!
Paul O'Neill was our tour guide, and he was FANTASTIC!!! He made this trip so easy and fun! He was super informative and funny! All his suggestions for our free time were excellent! He was so organized and focused! The only regret we had was not doing the longer tour!
Wonderful 3 day trip around the South West coast of Ireland
My husband and I recently returned from our 3 day trip with Railtours Ireland First Class and we had a wonderful time. This overnight tour gave us the opportunity to see Ireland in a different light. We stayed in Killarney for 2 nights. Killarney is an amazing Irish town - the vibe, mood, culture, restaurants, shops, people are wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fairview Hotel. David was our tour guide and he is full of Irish knowledge. You can tell he has a passion for this job and enjoys being able to share the history of Ireland. He made sure we were always taken care of at every stop, gave recommendations of restaurants in Killarney, gave us his phone number for emergencies. All of our stops were beautiful and full of history. We had one rainy day when we went around the Ring of Kerry but we all made the best of it and still came home with beautiful pictures of the scenery. We had one little mishap with our accommodations in Killarney but they were quickly addressed by the company and never spoiled a second of our trip.
Sightseeing bus cruise
I do wish there was more time with the activities and more time at each stop. It sort of felt like a cruise, by bus. I could not access a detailed itinerary before the trip, and had I known how little activity time there was I would have booked a different tour. There was more time spent on the bus than on the train, and certainly more than we spent at any of the activities. I also noticed a few times we were late to start or the plans changed, and many of us were wondering what was going on. We did not receive a contact number for our guides, or any way to contact them except through the main tour company line. At one point our taxi was running late, and we were set to meet at a very early hour. All of us were waiting at separate hotels, and it was so early the agency was not answering (likely not even open yet). We just had to wait and hope for the best! The tour guides themselves were great though! Andrew was stellar, has great sense of humor which added to the fun, and genuinely cared about us having the best time he could provide. The hotel accommodation in Killarney surpassed my expectations. The tour guides also made sure everyone was accounted for, before departing all stops, and our safety was obviously their top concern. Overall I think this tour was good, maybe best suited for a solo traveler or couple who likes to sit more than walk or stand, and wants to sightsee mainly via bus.
Fabulous Adventure With Our Tour Guide Peter!
This tour was so much fun! And PETER, our guide was the BEST guide ever! We miss you Peter! If we go again, we will only go with him! We learned so much.
Spectacular western side of Ireland
My two friends and I had a great time on this well plan three day tour. Our host Peter was the best. He was informative, humorous, and always in a good mood and watching out for everyone. I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the west side of Ireland, along a beautiful unique stretch of coast with a finale, worthy, the Cliffs of Moher! Well done and thank you….
