Great way to see larger areas of London
Great service. Staff work super hard. Pre-booked our tickets in advance. They can then be used from your phone’s wallet. Staff were all friendly and helpful - they defo work VERY hard! Boats were busy and it’s advisable to plan your ‘sailings’ to miss some of the busier times. We had good views of all that we wanted to see, even got to experience the ‘sports mode!’ Food and drinks were averagely priced (for London). My only two gripes; signage/timetable could be better and our last trip back from Greenwich was quite rough. I don’t think this was due to tide/current but more due to rushing. Would absolutely use the service again in the future.
Good service!! Friendly and informative
Norman was a star! Give him a salary rise😂
Tried the Uber Boat for the first time
Tried the Uber Boat for the first time today and honestly… such a hidden gem. The station is literally right outside my place in Royal Wharf, and I took it all the way to Tower Bridge, the whole experience just felt effortless. It’s such a peaceful alternative to the usual London commute. No crowded tubes, just sitting back, enjoying the views along the Thames. It actually made the journey feel like part of the day, not just something to get through. Super convenient, clean, and on time. Definitely doing this more often, especially when I want a commute that doesn’t drain me.
A Scenic and Flexible Way to Explore London, With a Few Caveats
I recently bought the 2 Day London Hop On Hop Off River Thames Sightseeing Pass by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, and it ended up being one of the most enjoyable ways I found to get around the city. The biggest highlight is easily the perspective you get from the river. Seeing landmarks like Tower Bridge and London Eye from the water feels completely different compared to walking or taking the Tube. The views are genuinely beautiful throughout the journey, especially if you manage to grab a spot on the outdoor deck. The flexibility is another strong point. Having unlimited rides for 48 hours makes it really convenient to explore at your own pace. You can hop on and off at different piers without stressing too much about timing, which worked perfectly for visiting places like Greenwich and moving between central spots without dealing with crowded underground trains. The boats themselves are modern, clean, and comfortable. There is a good mix of indoor seating, which is useful when the weather is not great, and outdoor space if you want to enjoy the views. There is also a small café onboard, which is a nice touch for grabbing a coffee during the ride. That said, there are a few downsides. At peak times, the boats can get quite busy, and finding a good seat, especially outside, is not always easy. I also noticed that the schedule is not always perfectly reliable, so it is not the best option if you are in a rush or trying to stick to a very tight itinerary. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is more of a transport experience than a guided tour. There is no commentary, so if you are expecting explanations about the landmarks, you might feel like something is missing. In terms of value, it makes sense if you use it several times over the two days. If you only take a couple of rides, it can feel a bit expensive compared to other transport options in London. Overall, I would definitely recommend it for the experience and the views. It is a relaxed and scenic way to see the city, even with a few minor inconveniences.
