Renowned for its magnificent scenery and rich and varied heritage in terms of history and archaeology, Glendalough is famed for the Braveheart wedding scenes and it really is one of the most beautiful visitor sites in all of Ireland. You will have 2 hours to explore the deep valley with its ruined Monastic City of Celtic crosses, round towers and much more. Known as the valley of 2 lakes, we enjoy a leisurely stroll along the bank of the river, through the woods where we are greeted by babbling brooks, crystal cascades and the lakes of Glendalough. A real picture perfect moment. If you are a fan of the Hollywood Blockbusters 'PS I Love You' and 'Braveheart' then join us on this tour! You will understand why Mel Gibson chose the Wicklow mountains to be the Highlands of Scotland and Glendalough to be the spot for the wedding scene. An awesome tour with an awesome guide

We had an amazing time on our Kilkenny tour. Our tour guide, Pat, was incredibly thorough, very easy to ask questions to, and generally just a very pleasant person to have as a guide. He had all the info of ever place. It was nice to have a tour guide who had a personal connection to some of the sites we visited. He did his best to make sure everyone was comfortable within his ability to do so. I definitely recommend this tour!

Glorified Shuttle

Based on the description I didn’t realize this tour was just a ride to and from, Glendalough, and nothing more. We were taken on a day in May that was in the mid 40s (F), raining, and very windy. Once we realized the entire tour was just to drop us to walk a nature trail around the lake, we asked if there was a cafe we could go sit in to stay warm. We were told to go to the hotel. Once there we were told by the staff (and signage) that hotel restaurant and lobby are only for hotel guests. We then found out the only “cafes” around are both outdoor carts with outdoor seating. There isn’t any town to walk around or any place to take shelter from bad weather. We even tried twice to enter the visitor center and were told we couldn’t go inside. Unless it’s an absolutely beautiful day, I would avoid this tour at all costs.

We really enjoyed the...

We really enjoyed the Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains tour. The scenery was absolutely beautiful . It was lush, green, and exactly what I imagined Ireland would look like. The two-hour self guided hike was a great way to see the area, and the view was stunning. A perfect day trip outside Dublin.

I would have liked to...

I would have liked to have seen someone who walked with us to the lake and falls explaining things. As it was, we never got to see the Falls. Can’t remember how ole the stone was either. Alex was good as a driver.
