Traveler reviews
Guided tour of the bishops palace is the way to go.
The guided tour brought the history of the palace alive and drew interest to artifacts we want to view at our leisure. Very entertaining and informative.
BISHOPS PALACE - GREAT HOUSEKEEPER GUIDE!
This is a beautiful place & our guide was the "Housekeeper" who was a very believable actress as she showed us around the rooms & shared titbits of gossip about various people who had lived there. There were places to sit in every room & lots to look at with photography allowed. When we got to the last room, we were told that there was an exhibition upstairs but that we were welcome to go back through the rooms to take photos. We went upstairs first but did not realise that we could not get back in to the main rooms & then the next tour was starting so we just had to exit the building. This was the only negative because had that been explained differently, then we would have gone back through the rooms first & then gone to the exhibition. Also a great cafe on the premises.
The best 5 euros you will spend.
If you are in Waterford and into history then get yourselves to the bishop's palace and make sure you get the tour with the house keeper. Far better than I expected and great gossip from the housekeeper.
High-level presentation.
What a fantastic tour by the bishop's "housekeeper". She is not only the guide but also a fantastic actress. Nice story with lots of humor!
History made fun to learn
This was the starting Point of the epic walk round the Viking Triangle in Waterford and it was included, so we visited afterwards - and it was worth the price alone. Take your time with this Museum as it has lots of interesting story to tell. My husband and I were fascinated by the exhibits and the snippets of History written everywhere on the walls. We had a nice little chat with a lady from the museum we met in the staircase and got great tipps what else to see - and the Café had the best Croissants I had so far. If you are in Waterford, you should absolutely go check the Bishop's Palace out!
