Itinerary
Villa de Leyva preserves in its architecture some of the most authentic features of our colonial past. Not for nothing it was declared National Monument since 1954. Besides its architecture and historical importance, this town is also known for its diversity of landscapes, as you can go from desertic areas to fog forests in some minutes. This tour is perfect if you want to have a welcoming introduction to Villa de Leyva, right before starting your trip around, or just after you explore the outskirts of it and you want to focus on the historic center.
Our guide will pick you up and take you first to Plaza Mayor, the biggest cobblestone square in Colombia. From here you will make a review of different periods in history, including recent history of this region: its characters, its houses, its monasteries that are witnesses of the historical and cultural development of Villa de Leyva that even to this day continue to write its legacy.

Traveler reviews
great tour Villa de Leyva, recommended!!!
We enjoyed the guides. They taught us a lot about history and also about things that were not in the program. Very flexible and have love for the city and history. Interesting and fun tour, we advise everyone to do the tour
Very Personalized Tour
This is a wonderful and very customizable tour. Miguel has relationships with people all over the city, and takes care of all the transportation and entry to the sites while Nicholas provides wonderful details and translation. Nicholas grew up visiting many of the sites visited and has lived in various places around the city. The pace of the tour is perfect. You get to visit many sites in the historic city, plus several museums and sites farther out. We even stopped to enjoy a coffee in the main square and just relax by a beautiful mountain-fed pool. This is a great way to explore Villa de Leyva.
All's well that ends well.
Started kind of bumpy as they provided a guide that didn't speak English which wouldn't have worked. Recovered with a Ivan who was excellent. He was very helpful and a great guide to all the sites we visited (terra cotta house, Pozol azul, Fossil museum and a walking tour at the end for the history of Villa de Leyva. He was very accommodating and we did spend some time afterwards with him for lunch (wasn't part of the tour). We really appreciated the quick adjustment. We were happy with the tour.
