A fantastic experience
We had an amazing time with Prince of Whales. We did the sunset tour and I highly recommend it - when you're out looking for whales the sun is still fully up, but it's setting on they way back to shore which makes for an incredible view. Victor was the naturalist we were sitting near, and he was excellent - had tons of knowledge and fun facts about the whales, and his passion for them came through. Learning from him was a pleasure. The boat is large and held many people - at least 50, maybe more. Despite this, there were plenty of seats and the boat didn't feel overly crowded - you get to see the whales regardless of where you're sitting without much vying for space. There's complimentary hot drinks that were appreciated as it got a little chilly on the water! We saw 4 whales - two humpback whales (named Yogi & Dolphin), and got to watch Dolphin hunt for krill with the bubble net technique which we'd never heard of before. We also saw 2 orcas (Chainsaw & Whidby). I really appreciated that we went to see the orcas because after seeing the humpback whales, the crew could have brought us back to shore having fulfilled the minimum tour time and the whale sighting guarantee (and we would have left happy with that experience). Despite this, they heard that there were orcas nearby, and brought us almost to Vancouver Island to see them. In my view, they went above and beyond to help the passengers make the most of the experience, and I would absolutely choose them again for this reason.
10/10 whale watching experience <3
Would highly recommend whale watching with Prince of Whales! Got to see 12 orcas, 3 humpback whales and countless of sea lions within the 4 hours. One of the humpbacks breached twice which was an incredible sight to witness! Special shout-out to Sebastian for sharing fun stories and facts about whales!
Joyfulness
Such a joy in wildlife! A must do in Vancouver. Such a nice experience with sunset too. Very good driving and friendly staff.
No sunset cruise
I am not sure how this company gets away with calling this a sunset cruise when you don’t get to see the sunset on the boat. The ticket indicated that the tour would be five hours, but it returned in 3 1/2 hours which was one hour before the 8 PM sunset In addition to whale watching, one of the main reasons I booked the cruise was to be out on the water in a boat to see the sunset- but this did not happen. When I asked one of the crew members on the boat why we were returning before sunset, he commented that they felt we had been able to see whales on the trip so they were returning earlier due to this. Suggest that Viator require this company to remove the word “sunset”from there advertised tour.
Beautiful Night
We had such a beautiful night on the sunset cruise! Seeing three orcas surface at the same time is a moment I will never forget. Plus we saw humpback whales as well. This was a very special night!
