Full description

The 1/2 Day Upper Colorado River rafting trip is a scenic, relaxed float ideal for families, first time rafters, and anyone seeking mellow whitewater with big views. This 4.5 mile stretch flows from Pump House Recreation Area through Hartman Canyon (Lower Gore Canyon), where the river winds past polished granite, schist, and gneiss walls before opening into the meadowed Radium Valley. Gentle Class I-II rapids, calm pools, and a slower gradient create excellent conditions for floating, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Thanks to wide valleys and long sun exposure, mid-summer water temperatures typically reach the 60s to low 70s°F. Morning and afternoon departures provide flexibility, with 2-2.5 hours on the water depending on flows. Bald eagles, otters, herons, and trout are commonly seen along this peaceful corridor.

I did the Mesa Verde Tour with lunch and Ann Rapp, our guide, was the best! She not only provided us with in-depth information, history and theories about the sites we were seeing, but also took a lot of time at some of the less “popular” dwellings so we could understand the varied communities. I can’t speak highly enough of our tour and I think this is an ideal way to experience a broader picture of Mesa Verde and its history.
