Itinerary
The full extent of the beauty of Stuðlagil Canyon was hidden to the world until about 15 years ago. With the contruction of a dam nearby, the water level of the glacial rive here dropped by about 10m. We can now see the full beauty of the spectacular patterns formed here by basalt rock columns. Stuðlagil has emerged as something of an instragram favourite in recent years, with the turquoise waters of the river contrasting pleasingly with the austure grey beauty of the sheer basalt columns. It takes 60 minutes to reach Stuðlagill, and we enjoy about 60 minutes on location.
Gufufoss waterfall is something of a hidden gem. Situated on the outskirts of Seydisfjordur, Gufufoss stands 88ft tall. It gets its name from the Icelandic "gufu", meaning steam, referring the the water spray caused by the plunging falls. It will take us around 75 minutes to from Stuðlagil to Gufufoss.

Great scenery en route to destination…guide knowledgeable and provided fun facts along with historical information.
Unfriendly tour guide
It’s very disappointing with your service in the morning regarding the pick up area. The links I received for the pickup point were not the same as the actual pickup point. But, the tour guide sent me the same link too and she said that I went to the wrong place and the actual pickup place was in the port. The worst thing was that the tour guide accused we were late and we were in the wrong pickup spot. She sounded very unfriendly that ruined my day. I had a bad start that make me uneasy and uncomfortable about this tour since.
Great day on iceland
The tour went well and was worth taking. The tour guide, Saga, was fabulous. Knowledgeable, entertaining, happy to interact, and full of local stories to share. Driver Hero was also commendable.
Relaxing Day - Beautiful Landscape!
Our guide was a knowledgeable & friendly tour leader named Kjartan. Robert was the bus driver. Kjartan clearly knew all about the highlights of this area & was very receptive to questions. The weather was a beautiful sunny day which may have contributed to being one of the loveliest sightseeing days of our trip so far. The snow covered pass, the different shades of blue between sections of the melting ice and the numerous waterfalls that we saw made for a very memorable trip. The walk down to the canyon is steep but you can clearly view the unique canyon by standing in one of the viewing areas without dealing with the steepness of the trail. We did have a minor hiccup with the bus but Robert easily solved the problem & we proceeded on our journey without any further difficulty.
Magical
Awesome! Loved the canyon, the shuttle bus, the tour guide, the schedule was kept, the whole tour was magical!
