Discover the beauty of Germany’s famous Black Forest on this full-day small-group tour from Strasbourg. After crossing the Rhine River and entering Germany, travel through the forested hills of Baden-Württemberg to reach the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden, located at the edge of the Black Forest.

Stroll through the historic town center, admire the Kurhaus and the famous casino, and learn about the town’s long tradition of thermal bathing and European high society. After lunch, continue into the Black Forest landscapes where dense pine forests, mountain lakes and scenic viewpoints reveal the natural beauty of the region. Throughout the day, your guide introduces the traditions, culture and folklore that have made the Black Forest one of Germany’s most iconic destinations.

Cross the Rhine into Germany
Leaving Strasbourg behind, the tour begins with a short journey across the Rhine River into Germany and the state of Baden-Württemberg. Within a short distance, the landscape transforms from the plains of Alsace to the forested hills of the Black Forest.

Discover Baden-Baden
The first highlight of the tour is Baden-Baden, a historic spa town located at the edge of the Black Forest mountains. The town has attracted visitors for centuries thanks to its thermal baths, elegant architecture and cultural heritage.

Visitors have time to explore the town center, including the Kurhaus, the famous Baden-Baden Casino and the tree-lined promenade of Lichtentaler Allee. Free time for lunch (at own expense).

Scenic Black Forest Landscapes
The tour continues into the northern Black Forest where forests, valleys and mountain lakes create some of Germany’s most beautiful landscapes. The region takes its name from the dark appearance of its dense pine forests covering the mountains.  Photo stops and scenic viewpoints allow travelers to appreciate the natural beauty of the region.

Discover Black Forest Traditions
The Black Forest is famous for many cultural symbols including cuckoo clocks, traditional costumes and the iconic Black Forest cake.  Throughout the tour, your guide explains the traditions and folklore that shape the identity of this historic region.

Alex was the most experienced, knowledgeable, and chilled tour guide of all the 5 tour guides we experienced. We learned a lot from him about the culture, history, and geology of the region. He also provided great context to understand the regions' wines. This tour to Cassis and the calanques was beautiful and would get a 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that this expensive tour did not include lunch. The wine tasting was good but I had better in Bordeaux and it included lunch.
