Itinerary
Take a walk through the mysterious Pena Park (ticket and guided visit included), with an astonishing variety of plants and trees. The park was planted with the help of a German Engineer, a specialist in botany. Feel like royalty as you enter the romantic Pena National Palace (ticket included, no guided visit inside the Palace) at the top of the Sintra Mountain with amazing views of the Moorish castle.
In Sintra old town, there is free time for lunch, before meeting the guide again for the second part of the tour.
After lunch, we arrive at Quinta da Regaleira (ticket included), one of the highlights of Sintra. Visiting Regaleira is like travel on an imaginary universe full of symbols and metaphors. There is always a sign of something intense and transcendent. The guide enters in the park with you, gives you informations and directions, and then you have free time to explore this luxurious park, heading to the Initiation Well, discovering hidden secrets and entering mysterious tunnels.
Not actually a well! It was used for rituals inspired by the Knights Templar.
After leaving Sintra, we take the mountain road heading to the Western most point of continental Europe for a picture stop. These 100+ meter high cliffs are amazing
Before returning to Lisbon, we do a small stop in the bay of Cascais, where beach, local food, old town and fisheries combine. Great stop for pictures and maybe time for an icecream.

Full Day with great guide
Joan A (John) was extremely knowledgeable as well as being a great person. A small group (max 8, we had 6) makes all the difference. We got to see all the sites of the area. Even though we had lots of traffic (sunny Sunday) Joan cut nothing short and the trip actually took over 10.5 hours. Everyone had a great time
Amazing tour guide - Orlando
Our guide, Orlando, made it a wonderful day. We liked the initiation well the best. Also liked the plant elements
Amazing palaces, problematic scheduling.
We enjoyed the palaces, despite the crowds. Cascais was pleasant. Our guide had an excellent command of English and Spanish and was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We didn’t’ care for the fact that our guide did not escort us into the palaces to provide guidance and commentary, for the stated reason that he wasn’t allowed to do so. However, we saw many other guides from other tour companies inside the palace grounds providing guidance and commentary. Our tour started with the visit to Sintra, but it was too early to even take a peek inside the National Palace, which doesn’t open until 9:30am. Our visit to Cascais for “lunch” didn’t occur until 4pm - who eats lunch at 4pm for a tour that’s supposed to end at 5pm? Obviously the way they schedule the visits to the palaces is problematic.
Loved every minute!
10/10 tour. Appreciate the experience so much. Our guide (João) was an excellent facilitator and wealth of knowledge throughout the day. He kept us moving and together and was always sharing the who, what, where and when. Interesting stuff I wouldn’t have learned on my own. The sights are an incredible day trip. Since I’m a solo female traveling in Portugal for the first time, this really was a wonderful adventure.
Great day trip from Lisbon
The Tour was great. Our tourguide Sergio did a wonderful job introducing us to the different sights on the itinerary. He went out of his way to make sure to get us the best out of his trip, especially with his recommandations. It was a small group with a great atmosphere. If yoi choose this tour - which we highly recommend - please make sure you are good on foot. It is a lot of walking, especially uphill and on cobble stone. We loved it, but it can be challanging.
