Traveler reviews
Van transport
Traveling to NYC is very expensive. This offers a very cheap alternative to the expensive Lyfts, Ubers and Taxis but it also has its drawbacks. You will be ride sharing in a Sprinter van. As such, you may be the first passenger picked up and therefore will be in the van for what may seem to be an excessive time, as the driver collects all other passengers at the various terminals and the potential delays that come with each individual traveler collecting bags and making their way to the pickup point. If you are the last passenger picked up, this is the best and cheapest trip ever. The ride into town will have traffic. Expect 1 hour of usual traffic and 1 or more hours of picking up passengers (if you are the first to be picked up).
Car 54, Where Are You?
After clearing customs in five minutes, I waited for more than 45 minutes for pick up. Told to go to Welcome Center and push Ready button. First, Welcone Center sign is obvious if you know where it is, but signs for Shared Ride pickup direct you outside. A person titled Airport Guide told me to wait inside and driver would come there. After sending the Ready message, I had multiple texts saying driver would be there in one minute — but no driver. Three calls to and from dispatcher to no avail. Another airport employee told me that if he sees the driver upstairs, he’ll tell him to come down. Only another 10 minutes passed before a surly driver appeared, having parked the van on the higher level. After finally getting underway, traffic was a mess. Sitting in the van is more pleasant than shlepping through the subway, but come on. You’ve got to get your system worked out and communicate exactly what to do, where to wait, and get your drivers on the same page. Terrible operation.
I recommend Viator, even though I've never taken a single ride. Read to see why
My daughter and I booked a flight from Florida to NYC as part of her 19th birthday gift. We had an early flight. As we were about to get ready, our flight got canceled due to weather in NYC. We booked Viator to pick us up from JFK and take us to our hotel in Times Square. They let us know that once we get within the 24-hour window, refunds for cancellations are not allowed. I was going to take it as a loss, but I decided to let them know I would like a refund. I spoke with one of their agents virtually, and they refunded me with no questions asked due to the flight cancellation. I know you're thinking that's what they're supposed to do, but I had to go through a lot of hoops for some of our other cancellations. Maybe the second time will be the charm.
Ride was ok Driver BO was not
The driver hygeine was not good but overall not a bad trip. Same driver picked my mom up the next day and same thing personal hygeine is important . Beaware my driver did not count the number of passenegers in pick up so i had to pay again and wait for refund.
AVOID at all costs
The worst! We were given several erroneous updates wuthiut soecific pick up point and when I finally reached dispatch told we would have to wait at least 30 minutes for another family in the heat. Better off with the flat rate cab which is what we wound up taking. No more paid shuttles for me
