Reach the village of Gassin

Gassin is a lovely village perched high on inhospitable rocky land above the Mediterranean Sea. The village is classified among the "most beautiful villages of France". When you arrive in Gassin you can start your visit at the orientation table near the highest parking area. From here you have a magnificent view of the Bay of Saint-Tropez and the surrounding hills: you can see a great deal of coastline including the resorts of La Croix Valmer, Saint-Tropez, Grimaud.

The village of Gassin is closely linked to the village of Ramatuelle: the villages were both originally created to allow the locals to escape the pirates who were numerous in the Mediterranean waters and will usually be visited as part of the same tour of the region.

Then visit the village of Ramatuelle

Your day trip then moves on to the village of Ramatuelle. This attractive perched village is set high above the Mediterranean sea of the Saint-Tropez peninsula. The village was originally founded here to escape the pirates who terrorised the villages along the Mediterranean coastline. It takes its name from 10th century Saracen rule Rahmatu'llah that means 'Divine Gift'. Pascal was, above all, a smiling whirlwind of energy from the very start — bursting with knowledge, passion, and just the right amount of dramatic flair. He painted the horror of the Omaha Beach invasion so vividly that we could practically hear the chaos, then marched us through the bunkers at Pointe du Hoc like we were on a mission ourselves. Our Normandy D-Day tour was well worth it and we so enjoyed our tour guide Matt. He made the tour engaging, entertaining and informative. The tour was just the right size and a half day was perfect for us. It would have been much harder to get around to the sites and understand each without the information that Matt was constantly sharing. There was hardly a time that Matt was not telling us what/how/when of what we were looking at. Thanks Matt!
