Saint-Émilion & Surrounding Vineyards – Grand Cru Classé Experience

Discover the elegance, depth, and prestige of Bordeaux’s Right Bank on this immersive full-day private tour from Bordeaux. Designed for curious wine lovers and discerning travelers, this experience takes you into the heart of Saint-Émilion and its surrounding appellations, where Merlot‑dominant blends produce some of the region’s most refined and sought‑after wines.

Travel in Comfort from Bordeaux

Your day begins with pickup directly from your accommodation in Bordeaux. Meet your professional, English‑speaking driver‑guide and settle into a premium, air‑conditioned vehicle for a relaxed journey through the vineyard landscapes of the Right Bank. Along the way, your guide introduces you to Bordeaux’s history, appellation system, and the distinctive identity of Saint‑Émilion, Pomerol, Fronsac, and the wider Right Bank wine culture.

A Full Day Exploring Three Wineries

This full‑day experience includes three winery stops in Saint‑Émilion and the surrounding vineyards, offering a balanced introduction to the diversity and quality of the Right Bank. At the first two estates, enjoy a guided visit of the vineyard and cellar followed by a tasting, learning about local grape varieties, the influence of clay and limestone terroirs, and the choices winemakers make from vine to bottle. The final estate focuses on a tasting only, giving you a relaxed moment to compare the wines you have discovered and deepen your understanding of style, appellation, and terroir.

Grand Cru Classé and Beyond

One of the highlights of the day is a visit to a Saint‑Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate, where you explore the prestige, structure, and ageing potential that make these wines some of the most respected on the Right Bank. Depending on availability and your interests, the itinerary may also feature boutique family‑run wineries or estates in nearby appellations. On request, appellations such as Pomerol or Fronsac can replace either the first winery visit or the final tasting, allowing you to tailor the day while keeping its overall balance.

Free Time in Saint‑Émilion Village

During the day, you also enjoy free time in the medieval village of Saint‑Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its historic vineyard landscape, cobbled streets, and golden‑stone houses. This is your opportunity for personal discovery and lunch at your own expense: stroll through the lanes, browse wine shops, admire the architecture, or relax in one of the cafés or restaurants recommended by your guide.

A Refined Right Bank Experience

Unlike large group excursions, this private full‑day tour offers a more personal, educational, and relaxed way to experience Saint‑Émilion and its neighboring vineyards. With three winery stops, time in the UNESCO‑listed village, and the possibility to include Pomerol or Fronsac, the program combines structure, flexibility, and Grand Cru Classé quality in a single day. In the late afternoon, sit back and enjoy the scenic drive back to Bordeaux as your driver‑guide returns you to your accommodation, concluding a memorable full‑day journey through one of France’s most prestigious wine regions.

Alex was the most experienced, knowledgeable, and chilled tour guide of all the 5 tour guides we experienced. We learned a lot from him about the culture, history, and geology of the region. He also provided great context to understand the regions' wines. This tour to Cassis and the calanques was beautiful and would get a 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that this expensive tour did not include lunch. The wine tasting was good but I had better in Bordeaux and it included lunch.
