Rocamadour: A Village Between Sky and Stone
Dramatically built into a limestone cliff above the Alzou Canyon, Rocamadour is one of France’s most spectacular historic villages. Its remarkable setting unfolds across several levels: medieval streets below, the sacred sanctuary complex carved into the cliffside, and a castle crowning the summit.
A Great Medieval Pilgrimage Site
Since the 12th century, Rocamadour has welcomed pilgrims, kings, nobles, and travelers from across Europe. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, its sanctuary became one of the most important religious destinations of the Middle Ages and remains a place of spiritual significance today.
The Sanctuary & Black Madonna
At the heart of Rocamadour lies the Chapelle Notre-Dame, home to the revered Black Madonna. This ancient statue has inspired centuries of devotion and is closely linked to the legends and pilgrim traditions that define the village’s enduring identity.

Reviews
Guy was very fun, knowledgeable guide for the wine tour! 100% recommended!
Theo was a great guide. Not only was he affable and gregarious, his detailed knowledge of Normandie, Brittany plus history in general made the day long trip fun and a learning experience.
We had a great day with Manon taking us through this beautiful location. We were fortunate it was a small group so we were able to ask so many questions all day and she was quite knowledgeable. It was a hot day so we were able to spread out in the comfortable van. The boat ride was beautiful and relaxing, such beautiful scenery all around us. We found a nice spot for lunch that had the menu items we were looking for. The wine tasting at the end of the tour was a great ending. We will have fond memories.
