Also spelled Al Khawr means "sea on threesides" in Arabic. Older than Doha but far smaller in size. Al Khor is located an easy 50 kilometres to the north of Doha. It used to be the center of the pearling industry in Qatar but lost its importance after the introduction of cultured pearls. It now boasts a scenic harbour where you can find traditional fishing dhows, a corniche leading to mangrove colonies and a museum showcasing the fishing, pearling and dhow building industries.

Visit Qatar’s Khor al Adaid Natural Reserve, a land of natural wonder, with a large briny lagoon and a serene desert. Arrange travel into this fascinating uninhabited space to appreciate the beauty of its unusual geography, vegetation and wildlife.Khor al Adaid is also known as the Inland Sea. Here tall sand dunes surround a large tidal bay with a tropical environment, a phenomenon not seen elsewhere in the world. After gazing in awe at the impressive setting, have fun sliding down the dunes or swimming in the warm water. Divers here are likely to see large turtles, walrus-like dugongs and colorful clownfish. Birdlife includes flamingoes and osprey. Gaze across the sand to see camels and sand gazelles.

Situated on the North-Western part of Qatar, the Al Zubarah Fort was built besides the ruins of an ancient fort. Al-Zubarah was once a flourishing port and a centre of trade, fishing and pearling. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, this protected area has become one of the most important archaeological sites in Qatar. An international team of archaeologists and antiquities experts, led by the Qatar Museums Authority, have uncovered many of the artifacts which are displayed in the renovated fort.

A Great experience

Wonderful tour to the North of Qatar

Saloo was a wonderful tour guide through an excellent tour. Insights on history and buildings in and around Doha, and an excellent driver. Would recommend. We had a lovely day out at the Zubara fort, purple island, and the Mangros Colony.

Great Tour Outside the Usual Doha

It was a great experience. I wanted to get out of Doha and see more of the country. I really enjoyed it i would recommend this tour. The historical part was interesting too.

Informative, great and individual tour

Abdullah did the tour with us and another couple. The hotel pickup was super punctual. After that we started straight north. After a short karaoke tea break we continued to the sights. In addition to the planned activities, Abdullah has visited other attractive locations. Just a great day.
