Full description

Experience one of Provence’s most iconic seasonal spectacles on a half-day small-group lavender tour from Aix-en-Provence. Available only during the blooming period from mid-June to mid-July, this excursion takes you through scenic countryside in search of the region’s vibrant purple fields at their most photogenic moment.

Depending on flowering conditions and harvest schedules, your driver-guide selects the best locations on the day to maximize viewing opportunities. Learn about lavender cultivation, traditional uses, and the importance of this emblematic plant in Provençal culture while enjoying unforgettable landscapes filled with color and fragrance.

Designed as a relaxed seasonal experience, this tour offers the perfect introduction to Provence during lavender season.
The Lavender Season in Provence

Lavender fields are one of Provence’s most famous natural highlights, attracting visitors from around the world each summer. Flowering typically begins in mid-June and continues into July, with peak bloom usually occurring during the first weeks of July before harvesting starts. Exact timing varies each year depending on weather conditions, altitude, and farming schedules.

Because lavender is an agricultural crop, fields are harvested quickly once ready, making the viewing window short and constantly changing.

A Flexible Itinerary Following the Bloom

Rather than visiting fixed locations, this tour adapts daily to flowering conditions. Your guide selects routes through the Luberon or surrounding Provençal countryside where lavender is currently in bloom, ensuring the best possible experience during the season.

Guests may discover rolling fields framed by stone villages, olive groves, and mountain landscapes — the postcard image of summer in Provence.

 A Seasonal Provençal Experience

Beyond photography opportunities, the tour introduces lavender’s cultural importance, from perfume and essential oils to traditional agriculture. Limited to eight participants, the small-group format allows a relaxed pace with time to stop for photos and enjoy the scenery.

We had a very fun day with Matt to Mont Saint-Mitchel. Matt is an excellent tour guide & he cared for his clients very much. He's an on time person. We learned a lot about the history of Saint-Mitchel via Matt. He made sure we have enough time browsing this beautiful UNESCO. We definitely recommend friends & family this tour. Thank you Matt

Pascal was, above all, a smiling whirlwind of energy from the very start — bursting with knowledge, passion, and just the right amount of dramatic flair. He painted the horror of the Omaha Beach invasion so vividly that we could practically hear the chaos, then marched us through the bunkers at Pointe du Hoc like we were on a mission ourselves. And before we even caught our breath, he had already catapulted us back to Bayeux at invasion speed. A legend in tour‑guide form. Thanks from Croatian Team😉

Our Normandy D-Day tour was well worth it and we so enjoyed our tour guide Matt. He made the tour engaging, entertaining and informative. The tour was just the right size and a half day was perfect for us. It would have been much harder to get around to the sites and understand each without the information that Matt was constantly sharing. There was hardly a time that Matt was not telling us what/how/when of what we were looking at. Thanks Matt!
