UNESCO Roman Heritage and Van Gogh's Arles
This immersive 8-hour private tour explores three stunning Provençal gems—Arles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and Les Baux-de-Provence—each offering unique cultural, historical, and artistic treasures. Your expert English-speaking guide collects you directly from your Aix-en-Provence accommodation and transports you in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan through the spectacular landscapes of Provence.
Begin in Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for exceptionally preserved Roman monuments dating to the 1st century BC. Explore the magnificent Roman amphitheatre built around 90 AD that once held 20,000 spectators for gladiator fights, and discover the ancient Roman theatre, Romanesque cloister, and Alyscamps necropolis. Walk the Van Gogh trail following the footsteps of the legendary artist who created over 300 works here in 15 months, including "Café Terrace at Night" and "Starry Night Over the Rhône".
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Antiques
Journey to charming Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a sophisticated Provençal town nestled at the foot of the Alpilles mountains. Discover the remarkable Les Antiques—two exceptionally preserved Roman monuments including the Mausoleum of the Julii (30-20 BC) and a triumphal arch decorated with bas-reliefs depicting Caesar's Gallic conquests.
These monuments marked the entrance to ancient Glanum, the Roman city abandoned in the 3rd century.
Enjoy free time for lunch in Saint-Rémy's café-lined squares and explore artisan boutiques, Provençal markets (seasonal), and tree-shaded boulevards that epitomize authentic southern French village life.
Medieval Les Baux-de-Provence
Conclude at Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France's Most Beautiful Villages, perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop 245 meters above the Alpilles valley. Wander medieval cobblestone streets, Renaissance facades, and stone archways while admiring breathtaking panoramic views across Arles, the Camargue wetlands, and the Alpilles mountains.
Explore the imposing 13th-century Château des Baux fortress spanning 7 hectares with medieval siege weapons, chapels, towers, and ruins offering insights into Provençal medieval history. Browse charming art galleries, craft boutiques, and specialty shops featuring Herbes de Provence, olive products, and regional artisan goods.
This private full-day tour accommodates 2 to 8 guests with completely flexible pacing, ideal for history enthusiasts, art lovers, photographers, and families seeking comprehensive Provence exploration without rigid group schedules. Return to Aix-en-Provence after eight hours of cultural immersion with unforgettable memories of Roman grandeur, artistic legacy, and medieval splendor.

Reviews
We had a very fun day with Matt to Mont Saint-Mitchel. Matt is an excellent tour guide & he cared for his clients very much. He's an on time person. We learned a lot about the history of Saint-Mitchel via Matt. He made sure we have enough time browsing this beautiful UNESCO. We definitely recommend friends & family this tour. Thank you Matt
Pascal was, above all, a smiling whirlwind of energy from the very start — bursting with knowledge, passion, and just the right amount of dramatic flair. He painted the horror of the Omaha Beach invasion so vividly that we could practically hear the chaos, then marched us through the bunkers at Pointe du Hoc like we were on a mission ourselves. And before we even caught our breath, he had already catapulted us back to Bayeux at invasion speed. A legend in tour‑guide form. Thanks from Croatian Team😉
Our Normandy D-Day tour was well worth it and we so enjoyed our tour guide Matt. He made the tour engaging, entertaining and informative. The tour was just the right size and a half day was perfect for us. It would have been much harder to get around to the sites and understand each without the information that Matt was constantly sharing. There was hardly a time that Matt was not telling us what/how/when of what we were looking at. Thanks Matt!
