Full description
A small number of people get to walk through Iceland's second-largest glacier. This is how. The Silver Circle route takes in Borgarnes, Deildartunguhver, Reykholt, and Hraunfossar before reaching Husafell, where modified monster trucks begin the 45-minute ascent to Langjokull's tunnel entrance. Inside: corridors of blue ice, chambers several metres across, and a small chapel carved entirely from the glacier. Approximately one hour underground. Your YFIR guide covers the glaciology and Langjokull's significance on the way up. Into the Glacier's specialist guides handle the tunnel section. Crampons and helmet provided on-site — accessible for most fitness levels. Departs 08:00, returns Reykjavik approximately 19:00. Not suitable for guests with early evening commitments.

Know before you book
- Not suitable if you have tight evening plans or early departures
- Glacier entry may be cancelled in case of severe weather
- The glacier tunnel walk has uneven, cold ground (30–45 min walk)
Know before you go
- Wear warm base layers — temperature inside glacier is below 0°C
- Bring waterproof and windproof outerwear
- Comfortable hiking shoes are strongly recommended
- Lunch is not included – cafés available at Hraunfossar or Húsafell
- Late return (around 19:00–19:30) — plan evening accordingly

Excellent! Our guide was wonderful and kept the pace appropriate for my husband who has mobility issues. Although we didn’t see many cats, we learned a lot of interesting things about the city.
