Full description

Most visitors to Iceland head straight for the Golden Circle. The Silver Circle goes the other way — north into West Iceland's Borgarfjordur valley, where the geology is more powerful, the history runs deeper, and the tour buses don't go. This private 8-hour tour from Reykjavik covers Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring at 180 litres of near-boiling water per second; Reykholt, where 13th-century scholar Snorri Sturluson wrote the texts that preserved Norse mythology and Viking Age history for the world; Hraunfossar, where hundreds of springs emerge silently from the edge of a 900-year-old lava field with no visible source; and Husafell, a quiet glacier village beneath Langjokull with views of the ice. Your YFIR guide provides commentary throughout. Private vehicle, your pace, hotel pickup included.

Guide was very nice and we only missed finding one of the well known cats. Lots of petting in shops which thrilled my daughter. Fun to be at a cat cafe and have hot chocolate and local pastry. We saw parts we would not have but connected up with the main sights in old town.

Great tour of the peninsula with some interesting and varied stops along the way, and our guide was knowledgeable and fun! This tour was a good introduction to Iceland on the way from the airport to Reykjavik!
