Excellent Private Tour with Peter

We took a private tour with Peter. He made it special by asking our interest and catering to them. He is very knowledgeable of the history of the area. We enjoyed the private tour very much, and definitely saw and learnt a lot more with him! And would highly recommend his tour!

Daily visit to Mizen Head

I visited Mizen Head today. It was perfect the sun shining the winds light but packed with tourists. The place was big enough to cope with them. I got there about 2pm. The views were earth shattering. We had to use a narrow bridge over a gorge with the sea hundreds of feet below with three seals bobbing in the sunshine. The lighthouse complex was very interesting. The restaurant was well stocked. It even sold hot meals or ice-cream cones. I thought I was a kid again for a day. The complex next door had a souvenir shop and several rooms depicting life in a lighthouse in the early 19 hundreds. A simulated ships bridge in another room with ships wheel and radio transmitters. Great for the kids. Staff were very friendly and informative. But the views would knock your socks off. Very enjoyable.

Beware

Beware of being misled by the title of this "tour". This is nothing more than transportation from your hotel to Mizen head and back. The driver, who was courteous and safe, offered no narration or commentary, had planned no rest stops or stops at any points of interest. In fact he admitted he had never even been to this site before . He had no recommendations for places to eat and had to stop twice to ask directions. This definitely should not be labeled as a tour. That having been said, the scenery was wonderful and Mizen Head was beautiful. When I contacted the company, Peter Stanley told me the provider was named Kerry Taxi so I should not have expected more than a taxi ride. Under no circumstances would I use this provider to get me there. I feel cheated.
