You will start the tour in the Gothic Quarter, which is the oldest part of the city, dating back 2000 years. The distric has many streets, so small, that most of them are closed to traffic. In Ciutat Vella, where the history of Barcelona first started, you will experience a harmonious mix of modernity with Roman and medieval imprints. You will learn about the Catalan traditions and Barcelona’s origins, while exploring the enchanting corners, picturesque squares and the narrow alleys of the Gothic quarter.
After checking out the neighborhood’s most important highlights, we will set our focus on Modernism, crossing the Eixample district and marveling at its iconic Modernist architecture. L'Eixample was designed by Ildefons Cerdà after 1895 , to expand the city. (The word “Eixample” actually means “expansion” in Catalan). Crossing the streets of this elegant neighborhood, you will remark that Cerdà’s concept of urban planning was revolutionary and utopian. This was Barcelona´s 19th-century answer to the overcrowding of the medieval city and Gaudi´s favorite neighborhood to work in. In Eixample, you will pass by some of his most spectacular works, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.
Pass by: The avenue is home to the most remarkable façades of modernist buildings, including Gaudi’s La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and Domènech's Casa Lleó - Morera or Casa Ametller. While passing by, get amazed by these beautiful houses, that will color in your day. Also, it is a ideal avenue ride the bike, with its large bike lanes.
Pass by: We’ll pass by La Pedrera, one of Gaudí's most remarkable creations. Be amazed by this iconic building, with its unique shape and stunning balconies that set it apart from any other residence.
Pass by: Get ready to be amazed by the colorful façade of Casa Battló, one of Gaudi's impressive houses.
Pass by: We will pass by Casa Lleó - Morera or Casa Ametller, built by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech
You’ll also have the chance to see the breathtaking Sagrada Familia up close. We’ll stop for a photo break, allowing you to capture the stunning façade of Gaudí's masterpiece and truly appreciate its divine beauty.
In this tour, you will also discover the neighborhood of Gràcia. One thing that will catch your attention while visiting Gràcia is the feeling of being somewhere else, like in a small town. You will feel a very friendly and familiar athmosphere. You will get enchanted by the various 'plazas' of the neighborhood, where everyone likes to sit on the benches or on the floor, singing or playing the guitar. Gràcia is one of the most bohemian and multicultural neighborhoods in Barcelona. Large stores here do not have a place, since local commerce is more popular. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, cultural centers and little boutiques. This all with a very creative spirit. You will love it.
After riding through Gràcia, we will head to El Raval, going down Las Ramblas. When you will enter the Raval, the former red light district of the city, your private guide will explain its colorful history and point out some of its most emblematic landmarks. For centuries now, this part of Barcelona has been home to many nightclubs, cabarets and taverns. Raval is known as the place where sailors would often go to have fun after reaching the local port. Today, the neigborhood, is a youthful and sparkling place full of life and movement. Home to skaters and youngsters, boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Later on, we will reach Barcelona's waterfront and end on the Barceloneta beach, where the historical district meets the Mediterranean Sea. This was once a fisherman’s neighborhood and still preserves that small-town essence today. Here, you will find lovely chiringuitos (beach bars), authentic Spanish seafood restaurants and colorful buildings with a great local feel. you will have the chance to marvel at amazing views over the Mediterranean. Take a moment to enjoy the fresh breeze as you peddle along the beautiful seafront promenade.

Guide Stephanie was amazing
We really enjoyed the tour and our guide Stephanie was amazing. We learned and saw more in a short time than we could have seen on foot in a few days...
Great e-bike tour
An e-bike tour is always first on our list of activities when visiting foreign cities, especially with active teenagers. You can get a remarkable overview of a city in a short time, keep active and hope to remember some of the historical facts! Our guide was Stephanie, intelligent, knowledgeable and well qualified to share the history of Barcelona with us. Her English was very good. In addition she was happy to pass on recommendations for restaurants and other visitors attractions at the end of the tour. There is a lot to potentially fit into 3.5 hours but electric bikes made covering big distances very easy. However, I would suggest you need to be a confident cyclist to do this tour as the bikes are quite powerful. Helmets were offered (not obligatory in Barcelona) and you’d be crazy not to wear them. However there are bike lanes everywhere so we never felt uncomfortable with the traffic. We were blessed with gorgeous weather. On other tours the bikes have had panniers and complimentary water bottles but this is a minor point. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Tour from hell resulted in 8 hours in the hospital!
Stephanie the tour guide showed up 15 minutes late, then we waited for her to park and lock her bike before berating us for not having What’s App and calling her when she was late on the number provided. We walked several blocks to a bike rental shop where we got our broken down bikes (one didn’t have an electric motor that worked and one had to be switched because the battery was dead). We were not offered helmets and we did not sign anything. She gave very little instructions. We asked her to please speak more slowly because we couldn’t understand her and to wait for all six of us before telling us about the sights. She would get to a stop and give her commentary before we had all gotten there and take off, constantly telling us to “put it on 9 and speed up”. She went through busy intersections almost out of our sight and kept on going, even when we had to stop for lights. We got on a straight away and she told us to go fast and keep up. I was third in line and trying to even see her when I fell. This fall was serious! I spent the next 8 hours in the hospital and got stitches in my head, a concussion, a black eye, temporary amnesia, and severe bruises to my chest, wrist, and legs. I had to get a CT scan to make sure I didn’t have a brain bleed and a chest xray. My group (3 couples) helped her return the bikes and did not complete the tour before coming to the hospital. Today I got notification of a $90 refund, which is utterly insulting! She did not even reach out to see if I was ok.
