Dali Museum and Perelada Winery
Great tour with Dulce (guide) and Juan Carlos (driver) today. Pickup was well coordinated and on time from our hotel. We had a nice 1.5 hour drive to Figueres with friendly conversation. Dulce provided great information about Dali during the museum visit, making the experience very interesting. We learned a lot. After a brief lunch at a local restaurant, we were taken to Perelada Winery. The facility was very impressive. It was an interesting mix of old and new architecture. They had more wine vats and barrels than any other winery we’ve ever visited. We tasted 3 wines in a tasting room (not their castle), spent a little time at their bar area with another glass of cava, and then were driven (~2 hr drive) back to our hotel by Dolce and Juan Carlos. Overall, it was a very nice tour.
“Dalí”cious.
We had a wonderful time on the Dalí trip with Dulce, while Alberto safely conveyed us to all the different destinations. She was a veritable cornucopia of information and insight into these intriguing characters Dalí and Gala, expositing history and philosophy alike. She also gave us some recommendations for nighttime activities in Barcelona, but also Madrid where we are headed next. So, if you hook up with this tour, you get a tour guide that keeps giving even after you are dropped off at your hotel! The Cava portion of the tour was an insightful, far ranging delve into sustainable and creative winemaking. Not your ordinary sip and see. These winemakers are serious, and the facility is breathtaking. Great Tour!
A Dali to remember
Dulce was a very thorough interpreter and guide of the Dalí museum. She exposed a fair amount of history to Dali’s life and a lot of his philosophy as well. I fully appreciated her backdrop to his impact of the surrealist movement and Dali’s and Gala’s contribution to the world of Art. Also, the wine portion of the tour was top notch. This is an incredible winery with such a well thought out design and construction. The wine was good, but the winery itself is a masterpiece.
Five star tour with great service. If you want to learn about Costa Brava and Dali in depth, this is the tour for you!
Dulce met us at our hotel in Barcelona and we were soon on our way to Costa Brava. On the way, Dulce answered some questions we had about the area which helped us understand the culture more. We also enjoyed the beautiful landscape. Once we arrived at Costa Brava we went for a beautiful scenic walk and enjoyed an amazing view of the Mediterranean. After enjoying the views for a while we headed out for a wine tasting at Viniric Winery. There we met with the winemaker, David, who taught us about how he does sustainable agriculture with wine and olive oil. We learned a lot and were able to tour the winery as well. We sampled 7 different wines and thought all were amazing and reasonably priced. After the tasting we headed to Figueres to see the Dali museum. Dulce's guided tour of the museum really was the highlight of the trip. She was very knowledgeable of the different works of art and answered our questions while providing little known facts about Dali. Then it was back to Barcelona. We had a great day and made a lot of memories we will always treasure.
