Itinerary
Make the most of your time in Rome with direct access to the Sistine Chapel prior to the arrival of public tourists. Enjoy the incredible beauty of Michelangelo's masterpiece with your expert local guide and learn the history, techniques and secrets behind one of the most visited sites in Italy. With over 25,000 tourists visiting per day, you will be thankful to enjoy it prior to the regular opening times! From January 12 through March 31, the Vatican Museums will be carrying out special conservation work on Michelangelo’s Last Judgment inside the Sistine Chapel. During this time, a scaffolding structure will cover the entire Last Judgment wall. The Sistine Chapel will remain open and fully accessible, but this specific artwork will not be visible during the restoration period. Thank you for your understanding as this masterpiece receives important care.
After experiencing the wonder of the Sistine Chapel, your private expert guide will take you to your next stop - the Raphael Rooms. Have a truly intimate experience in a near-empty museum to enjoy the gorgeous frescoes of Raphael as your expert guide explains these masterpieces in detail with historic anecdotes.
Your guide will then escort you to the Raphael Rooms for an intimate experience with these fresco masterpieces.

Traveler reviews
Skip the line is good, guide not good
Wasn’t great, no earpiece system so it was really hard to hear our guide even when they did speak. Not a lot of stories or content, basic kids activity books that weren’t good. Lots of times the guide was asking us to ask them questions if we wanted to know anything but on other tours we have done we have had interesting stories and facts that there is no way we would know to ask for. Wouldn’t recommend. Besides the skip the line benefits we’d have been better off ourselves with the audio guide.
Unforgettable Tour!
The Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel tour was the highlight of our visit! Francesca is exceptionally knowledgeable and conducted a fantastic tour, complete with all of the interesting information, curiosity and time for photos. It was a pleasure and we highly recommend Francesca and Liv Tours. The ticketing, communication and logistics were all well organized and made it easy for us. We would absolutely seek out Liv Tours on our next vacation.
Our Private Family Experience | First Entry Vatican, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica Tour was absolutely exception
Our Private Family Experience | First Entry Vatican, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica Tour was absolutely exceptional. From start to finish, it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience—made even better by our incredible guide, Linda. Linda was truly top-notch. She had a wonderful way of speaking to the children so they could understand and stay engaged, and she kept their interest the entire time—no small feat in such a vast museum! Her knowledge was extraordinary, yet she explained everything with clarity, enthusiasm, and warmth. One of the highlights was having the museum practically to ourselves thanks to the early access. Walking through the galleries and the Sistine Chapel in such a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere made the experience feel magical and deeply personal. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better tour. Highly recommended for families—this is the perfect way to experience the Vatican.
Vatican Museums with Giovanni
We had a wonderful experience with Giovanni at the Vatican Museum yesterday! He was delightful, attentive, and informative. We enjoyed his expertise on showing us the artwork in the museum. He interacted with every tour participant and took an interest in where we were from. I hope we can tour with Giovanni again in the future.
Hard to beat
Leonardo was a great tour guide! I loved how he capitalized on our time in line to give us a lot of the history, so we could move fast to the overlook of St Peter’s and get good pictures in the morning light. He knew a lot about the Vatican and shared great insights once we were inside. Highly recommend.
