The Route du Champagne and Côte des Blancs

Along the way, take in the regional setting of prestigious Champagne Houses including Bollinger, Gosset, and Deutz, as well as Grand Cru villages such as Aÿ, Hautvillers, and Bouzy.
Hautvillers and the Legacy of Dom Pérignon
Travel into the Marne Valley to Hautvillers, a historic village closely associated with the origins of Champagne. Visit the former Benedictine Abbey, where Dom Pérignon—widely credited with helping refine the Champagne-making process—lived and is buried, and discover the enduring connection between this hillside village and the region’s wine heritage.
Épernay, the Capital of Champagne
Continue to Épernay, often known as the Capital of Champagne, where elegant mansions along the main avenue reflect the presence of celebrated names such as Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Mercier, and Veuve Clicquot. Beneath the city, more than 100 kilometers of chalk cellars hold millions of bottles as they mature, revealing the remarkable scale and tradition behind Champagne production.
