About this activity

Eat Seattle Tours’ Coffee Crawl is a chef-led coffee tour of Pike Place Market that starts before the crowds do. Over two hours, you’ll taste your way through five small-batch Seattle roasters and eat a full breakfast in bites, while the Market wakes up around you.

Seattle didn’t become a coffee city by accident, and this is the tour that explains why. Your guide is a working chef, so you’ll taste a variety of local small batch coffee roasters— prepared side by side, with someone who can actually tell you what changes between them and why. Samples run 2–4 ounces so you can try everything without hitting the wall by stop three.

Highlights

  • Chef Guided Walking Tour
  • Delicious Coffee Tastings & Breakfast Bites
  • Explore Pike Place Market as it awakens

Full description

What you’ll eat

Breakfast comes in pieces: a sambusa, a scone, donuts, a waffle bite, and a few things that change with the season. Enough to count as a real meal.

Why the early start matters

Most visitors see Pike Place Market at eleven in the morning, shoulder to shoulder. You’ll see it at opening — produce going out, fish getting iced, owners setting up and actually free to talk. Every stop on this tour is a small, locally owned business, and at this hour you meet the people who run them.

Good to know

Two hours. Small groups. You’ll leave with a discount card good at your tour stops and all 20+ of our Pike Place Market partners, and several coffee roasters take 10% off whole beans. Let us know about dietary restrictions when you book — our guides work around gluten at most stops on this tour.

Caffeine-free options  are available with 24 hours’ notice!

Nels was an awesome market guide. Very knowledgeable and made sure everyone was taken care of during our tour. We were traveling with my family and had a stroller so we very much appreciated Nels accommodating us. The food samples were plentiful and delicious. We learned not only about the history of the market but also many interesting Seattle facts. Thank you, Nels. If you are thinking about it, don’t hesitate to book this chef guided tour.

This was my first food tour and I loved it! We got to try so many more different things than we would’ve on our own. The truffles were a pleasant surprised. We loved them so much we went back to buy some to take home. The chowder was amazing! And the Hellenika frozen treat was delicious! Chef Noah was an excellent tour guide. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the food as well as the history of Seattle. He also provided an email to reach out for questions and recommendations which I did and he responded right away! I would highly recommend this tour.
