Full description

Your journey begins near the historic Reading Terminal Market, one of Philadelphia’s most iconic culinary destinations. As your guide introduces you to the city’s incredible food scene, you’ll learn how Philadelphia’s diverse communities, immigrant traditions, and centuries of history have helped shape the flavors found throughout the city today.

From there, we’ll head inside Reading Terminal Market, a Philadelphia landmark that has been serving locals and visitors since 1893. Our first delicious stop features fresh, handcrafted donuts filled, glazed, and topped with everything from classic favorites to creative specialties. As you enjoy your first bites, you’ll experience the energy, sights, sounds, and incredible aromas that have made this one of the country’s most celebrated public markets.

Next, we’ll stay inside the market for a savory change of pace. Here, we’ll enjoy warm, freshly made soft pretzels inspired by Pennsylvania’s deep Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish traditions. Pretzels have been part of the region’s food culture for generations, making this the perfect savory break between our sweet stops.

After leaving Reading Terminal Market, we’ll continue through the heart of Philadelphia toward our next tasting. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the landmarks, neighborhoods, and local characters that have helped transform Philadelphia into one of America’s great food cities.

Our next stop introduces a completely different take on the donut with delicious mochi donuts. Known for their signature chewy texture, colorful appearance, and creative flavors, these unique treats offer a fun contrast to the traditional donuts enjoyed earlier in the tour while highlighting the international influences shaping Philadelphia’s modern food scene.

Finally, we’ll make our way to our last stop for another round of handcrafted donuts. Creative flavors, inventive combinations, and seasonal specialties provide the perfect finale to our journey through Philadelphia.

This tour is more than a sweet adventure. It’s a journey through Philadelphia’s history, neighborhoods, food traditions, and local culture, served one delicious bite at a time.

The tour was quite long and it was difficult to keep the kids engaged. The donut store was the best stop where we got to choose a donut. At the rest of the stops the food items were pre ordered and we didn’t get a choice which was a bit disappointing. I was also unhappy that the tour ended at a different location to the starting point - we were handed a map and had to find our own way back. Having never been to Cork before, this wasn’t particularly easy and we had to run to catch our train back to Cobh.

Kat was a great guide. The donuts were delicious and she also included a lot of history of Toronto. The walk was an easy pace and gave us time to prepare for the next round. She provided us with other places to taste Toronto food and there was time to grab some of that food too. We loved the tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto!
