Itinerary
This where the tour starts and you meet your guide. After that, it will be a 2 hour journey to Neuschwanstein.
Schloss Neuschwanstein, often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.
We will return to the starting point to conclude the tour.

Neuschwanstein Castle
Amna is an excellent guide! We enjoyed the tour!
Worth the effort
This tour can be a bit of a grind if you are unprepared. Take water and be prepared for a lot of walking and a lot of steep stairs at the castle. Even though the bus takes you close to the bridge there is still an uphill climb to get there and a long hike uphill to the castle. You can go up by horse carriage but these are far and few between when it is busy, which is almost always. Apart from the King’s chambers the castle is unfinished, but it is still worth the effort to do a tour inside. Our guide Nick from Radius Tours did a masterful job by giving us all the history we needed and herding the troops without being too intense. He’s a cool guy with great sense of humour. Once there, Nick basically gave us instructions so we could do our own thing, which was refreshing. We had great weather but it could be a different outcome had it been raining or miserable. The administrators of the castle could well look at having shuttle carts continually servicing access to the castle, especially in the rain. I know I’d happily pay for this service and so would others as the great majority of visitors are over 60 and it is very difficult for families with young children and babies in prams,
highly recommend
charlie was a WONDERFUL tour guide. he was an engaging speaker (& took breaks to avoid information overload, which was VERY appreciated) very knowledgeable but in an accessible way.
Don’t miss this tour!
This is a great day trip. The Alps, two castles, the autobahn: what’s not to love! Our guide, Charlie was amazing and shared the history in an entertaining way.
Amazing site, amazing tour guide
We are a 35 year old couple travelling from Australia to Europe for the first time. Haven't previously done any 'tour' type activities so was unsure what to expect, but the entire day was amazing. Charlie provided some really great commentary and was very knowledgeable/engaging to listen to. Thank you for a great day, we really enjoyed the tour and the site itself was amazing. 10/10 recommend.
