Our whiskey & poitín experience is a deep dive into the history of Irish whiskey, beginning back when whiskey and poitín were essentially the same spirit, separated only by the buying of a licence. You’ll discover the real story of our whiskey and how it’s made, and learn all about brewing, distilling, mash bills, cask finishes and maturation. You’ll hear about our own illicit 170-year-old family distilling tradition, and how we make our whiskey here at our distillery today. The experience takes place in the heart of our working distillery and includes three tastings – two independent whiskey bottlings by us and a very special Heritage Edition poitín made with peated barley and oats. It’s a fun, interactive experience that’s a must-do for all whiskey lovers.

Like whiskey and travel to Galway, this is a must visit!

Very nice and friendly people! You can touch and feel their passion. Good history lesson and excellent whiskey tasting. Note: this is mostly a tasting event, the distillery show is just a quick look (noting wrong with that, just be aware)

Not again...

The young lady simply rambled through her text. There was no consideration for other languages, even when asked to speak a bit slower so that we could understand. A printed page in German was therefore of little help. This is no way to win customers....

Great micro-distillery visit. Worth every penny

Aoife knows what's up and brings the local knowledge. She gladly let us join the tour experience without a res and took excellent care of the group of six visitors. Great stories and explanations of the differences between whiskeys and Poitin, an Irish moonshine, including their histories. The experience included tastes of four, maybe five distillates. Micil's poitin stands out as the most Irish and local drinks. Seriously delish! Their whiskeys are likewise remarkable. The distillery is in the back of the OSLO brewpub, which is a great place for some local brews. Thank Heaven you can even buy a bottle of Micil at the Dublin Airport if your bags are already heavy!
