Amazing Adventure!

Do not hesitate to book the Mendenhall Glacier Adventure Tour with Liquid Alaska Tours! It was an amazing experience and was one of the highlights from our trip to Alaska. For us, the meeting point was in front of the Goldbelt Tram and it was easy to spot the sign. Miller greeted us and since it was raining, he told us to hang out underneath the building overhang so we could be spared from the elements. When it was time to go, he waved us over to meet our guide. Elymus loaded us up in the van and off we went. During the 20 minute ride to the lake, he provided us commentary and facts about Juneau and the plan for the rest of the day. Once we arrived, we met Brady, our other guide, and got geared up. Liquid Alaska provides all the necessary gear [rain paints, rain jacket, boots, and gloves] for the excursion. But I would recommend wearing layers because it does get a bit chillier out on the water [10-15 degree difference]. There was a total of 16 folks [14 + 2 guides] on the canoe. Brady provided us a detailed safety overview and told us the actions he and Elymus would take if anything happened [e.g., someone falling overboard, the canoe tipping, etc;]. We appreciated the additional information and felt very comfortable and secure going out on the water. Then it was time to head out and start paddling to the beach. Brady was mic'ed up and gave us information about Mendenhall Lake and Glacier and the various wildlife. When we made it to the beach, we all got trekking poles for the short hike. The glacier and landscape was amazing! Then we turned around and headed back to the canoe for the trip back to base. Back at the base, we all got hot drinks. Besides being excellent tour guides, Elymus and Brady were fantastic baristas as well. The crowd favorite was the "Mende Mocha". Overall, we had an amazing day out on the water. It'll be something we remember for the rest of our lives. But, Elymus and Brady made it extra special with the conversations we had with them. You can tell that they are passionate about nature and conservation. And you can't help but get swept up in their excitement. We only wish them the best in their endeavors and we know their future is bright. Thank you Elymus (named for a plant) and Brady (not named for Tom Brady)! :)

Highly Recommended

Elymus and Elisha our guides were excellent! They were personable, knowledgeable and very safety conscious. The canoe and gear provided was top notch. The glacier, lake and waterfall were gorgeous and it was a spectacular feeling to know we were one of only relatively few who experience Mendenhall from this vantage point!

Fun glacier activity

Lots of gear and quite a canoe workout but worth it for the views and experience. The guides Elymis and Brady were so funny and entertaining. They also were passionate about the environment. A great experience!
