Full description

Indulge in a private half-day Médoc Wine Tour during your shore trip from Bordeaux. You'll taste fabulous Medoc red wines as you explore two carefully selected classified growth Châteaux, each steeped in history. Your local tour guide, an expert in Bordeaux wines, will share insights about the vineyards and vintages, ensuring a personalized experience.

Convenient pick-up and drop-off at your cruise ship and travel in a fully equipped A/C minivan make this tour seamless. Customize your tour to suit your interests and immerse yourself in the world of fine wine. Join us for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Bordeaux's wine country!

Meet Your English-Speaking Médoc Wine Expert
As you step off your cruise ship in Bordeaux or Bassens, your English‑speaking local guide, specialized in Bordeaux wines, greets you at the pier and outlines the day’s program. Settle into your comfortable, air‑conditioned vehicle and head through vine‑covered countryside towards the prestigious Grand Cru châteaux of the Médoc.

Travel the Legendary Route des Châteaux
Leaving the port, you soon join the famous castle road, lined with many of the Médoc’s Grands Crus Classés. At each estate, you learn about the history of the property before touring the vineyards and state‑of‑the‑art cellars.

Visit and Taste at Two Médoc Wine Estates
During guided visits at two carefully selected châteaux (often in the Margaux or Haut‑Médoc appellations), your host explains each step of the winemaking process, from vine to barrel to bottle. You then enjoy commented tastings of elegant, Cabernet Sauvignon–driven reds that showcase the structure, perfume, and finesse of Left Bank Bordeaux. When time allows, your guide may also include a photo stop in front of the iconic Château Margaux.

Guided by Certified Wine and Local Experts
With Ophorus, your Médoc experience is led by fully accredited driver‑guides, each holding at least WSET Level 2 or equivalent wine certification. You learn how to assess a wine using sight, nose, and palate, while also gaining insider knowledge about the Médoc’s villages, landscapes, and château culture. Combining wine expertise with local insight, your guide ensures a rich, engaging introduction to one of Bordeaux’s most renowned vineyard areas.

We went on an 8 hour full day tour of Omaha and Utah Beach that included Pointe du Hoc and the American Cemetery. I had previously read “The Longest Day” and literally our guide gave us a tour that contained the Cliff Notes of the book and more. Pascal isn’t your typical tour guide. He’s a military historian of D-Day. He has was precisely the guide I had hope for when I selected this tour. He’s enthusiasm for the subject is unmatched. Highly recommend this tour and Pascal if you are interested in the nuance of the D-Day invasion. 🇺🇸🇫🇷🫡

We had a great time on our trip to St Emilion. Our guide picked us up on time and was very welcoming and knowledgeable, making our small group feel at ease with eachother. We had a pleasant drive to the village and then a little free time and then a delightful tasting at a chateaux. Would definitely recommend this trip for anyone spending a few days in Bordeaux.

If you want to share your tour with others, you can put it on Cruise Critic. Most of the time this gives good results. You must do this yourself as we are not accepted on their site as a professional business. We accept split payment transactions by credit card.

This tour is best for cruise guests who love red wine and want a focused Médoc experience: couples, friends, and small adult groups seeking a comfortable, time‑efficient shore excursion with expert commentary, rather than a large‑coach overview or general city tour.
