Traveler reviews
Unreliable
After food boat ride and bus to Hyde Park, we waited 30 mins while 2 buses showed up but were out of service. We had to Uber. This service is completely unreliable.
Not worth it
The staff on the buses were very friendly and helpful, and the route included some great stops around the city. Unfortunately, the overall experience was frustrating. The buses seemed to stop every few minutes at another station, which made getting around much slower than expected. We also purchased a one-day Hop-On Hop-Off bus and boat pass. When we arrived in Greenwich, we were told we were not allowed to board the return boat and that we shouldn’t have been allowed to travel there in the first place. There was nothing in the booking information or on the ticket that mentioned this restriction. We weren’t the only ones affected as many passengers were left stranded and equally confused. Another issue was that the map and signs showed the bus pickup location on one side of the street, but the buses actually picked up on the opposite side. There is also no app or live tracking, so you can end up waiting 30 minutes or more without knowing when the next bus will arrive. If you have a question or need assistance, there isn’t an easy way to contact anyone. Based on our experience, I would recommend booking with Big Bus instead. They have a live tracking app, and there were always staff members at the stops to answer questions and help passengers.
No air conditioning
No air conditioning on any of the buses when it was 37°c. Had to take a detour due to traffic jam. Ive used tour buses to see cities all over the world and this was really poor due to a lack of air conditioning, which made it unbearable.
HoHo
It's easy and the buses come pretty frequently. Just a precautionary note, there are several bus companies that do the same thing, so be sure to look for the HopOnHopOff logo on the side of the bus.
Well worth while
Overall the Tootbus experience was very good and value for money. The routes covered all the areas as promised. Drivers and staff are stops were extremely helpful and polite. We achieved many things using our 72 hour pass and the river cruise was a highlight. Regrettably my wife finished with a badly bruised arm when the doors closed unexpectedly as she was boarding.
