Marvel at the black obsidian formations of Laugahraun lava field—formed in 1477 and consisting of vast erratic black obsidian which is known for its smooth, sharp edges and unique appearance, and famed in the TV series Game of Thrones as “Dragon Glass”— hike to Brennisteinsalda, the “Sulphur Wave,” where iron and sulfur minerals paint the mountains in brilliant shades. Join a guided 2-hour hike or explore at your own pace, with over 3 hours to enjoy the area.
