Natural beauty and historical sites in the Heights
The Golan Heights is an area of outstanding natural beauty and intriguing historical sites It was captured from Syria during the Six Day War in 1967 and is now part of Israel. The Golan Heights is of great strategic importance, it has a commanding view of the northern Galilee. Apart from its military value, the Golan is a fertile agricultural region. The trip from Jerusalem to the Golan takes around two hours by car.
Breathtaking views in the Golan Heights
We started the tour by driving from Jerusalem to the Megiddo Junction. From there we drove north through the Plain of Armageddon and past Megiddo into Galilee. The Galilee offers expansive views of lush green pastures, farmland, vineyards, and of course a great view of the Kinneret/Sea of Galilee. The tour continues as we pass by the Jordan River and then ascend to the Golan Heights with many vintage points along the way. We pass Hamat Gader, a historic site with hot springs used by the Romans and modern-day spa-goers. We continued to the Shalom Observatory and from this elevated point, there were magnificent views all the way to the Sea of Galilee. In Katzrin there's an excavated Jewish village from the Mishnah and Talmudic eras. At Mt. Bental we explored the Syrian bunkers and trenches captured by Israelis in the 1967 Six-Day War. I highly recommend this tour with Eyal our guide. He's extremely knowledgeable from Botany, archeology, history, geology and geography. His knowledge is tremendous! Pack your own lunch and bring a lot of water as it was piping hot! All in all a fantastic day out!!
excelllent
This is the best tour one can take in order to visit and really get to know Golan Heights. Our guide was both very funny and interessating, telling us all the details about the region and the battles that took place there between the two countries. We had no problems, everything worked great and as planned.

Guided tour with Ami Bar Gil
I booked this tour because I wanted to see the Golan Hights and learn about the history of the location. My expactations were exceeded. Our tour guide had a lot of informations about the sites we saw. He even could tell us a lot about the history of the hights. The landscape we could see from the lookout points was breathtaking! I would definitely book this tour again as long as Ami is the guide.
