Itinerary
Following a pick-up service from your hotel in Krabi, transfer to Phang Nga Bay by air-conditioned minivan to discover the famous filming locations of “The Man With the Golden Gun” in Phang Nga Bay.
Phang Nga Bay found its way onto the tourist map through its starring role in the James Bond movie starring Roger Moore as 007, and is distinctive for its sheer limestone cliffs that jut vertically out of the crystal emerald-green water.
Depart by longtail boat from Surakul Pier in Phang Nga province.
Cruise from Surakul Pier by longtail boat to James Bond Island where you will discover the famous Khao Phing Kan, a very high leaning rock with tiny caves. Here you can find stalls selling souvenirs mostly made from beautiful shells and wood. Walk around the James Bond Island and take a photo of Koh Tapu (also known as Nail Island or Spike Island). The limestone rock is around 20 meters tall with a diameter ranging from about 4 meters at the bottom and up to 8 meters at the top (hence the name of nail island).
Continue to Thalu Island, where you can take a guided kayak tour along the mangrove river and the giant stalactites caves & limestone cliffs.
Panyee floating village is where you will stop for lunch.
The natural island of Panyee is a towering vertical mass of limestone. Nearly all of the village sits atop a huge network of stilts that clings to the edge of the island’s coastline and stretches out over the sea in a maze of raised platforms and walkways.
Return back to Surakul Pier and make a short visit of Wat Suwan Kuha Temple, also known as “Monkey Cave”.
Continue to Raman Waterfalls, a place with an abundance of flora and fauna such as monkeys, deers, squirrels and birds. Note that accessibility may vary depending on water levels and schedule.

Traveler reviews
An excursion that could be pleasant if it were less commercial
Shared feelings! Beautiful excursion in Phang Bay nga The very touristic site of James Bond Island is worth a visit , the walk in the mangroves gives the illusion of being on the bay l halong , the little kayak tour is with a local , no need to paddle Visiting Koh Panyee Island is very confusing! We dock by sparkling restaurants but the decor is quite different! Modest shops follow one another at the expense of alleys that show a striking poverty! I'm having a hard time dealing with trade against a backdrop of poverty where you get harassed every 10 meters! But for sure it shows deep Thailand! A real tourist catch! Then a little visit to a temple , monkeys on the loose to finish with a little refreshment on the edge of a waterfall! The team that accompanied us was adorable and very organized!
A longer than expected day.
The boat trip around the islands was breathtaking, the views are just out of this s world. Be prepared for a long day.. We were picked up at 8:45 and didn’t get back until gone 7pm. This was due to being in a mini bus with others, which on all our other trips hasn’t been the case. The driver wasn’t the best, driving too fast a lot of the time. The water supplied throughout the day was warm. Lunch was ok, but again a number of boats arrived at the same time and it was more like a military mess room than restaurant. If I were looking to go to James Bond island and also kayak through the cave, there are trips that go by boat directly from Ao Nang beach, which is where we were staying. I think more info should be out in the info. That said memories were made.
A great one day tour to James Bond Island
It was definitely a good trip and one I would recommend. The long tail boat to the island was great. The canoeing around the caves was great. The time spent on James Bond island was also good. Lunch at the floating village was a good experience as well. It was a very hot day so by the time we got to the afternoon activities we didn't have as much enthusiasm as we did in the morning. We skipped the time seeing the monkeys and the temple to just sit in the shade. The last stop on the trip was to see a waterfall which was pretty unimpressive and not really worth the stop. All in all, it was a good trip and we are definitely glad we did it but I am not sure the 3 stops in the afternoon were worth it.
Crowded
Very crowded, not at all what I expected. Lots of waiting around. Scenic but not a great tour, would not recommend during busy season. Maybe private tour would be okay.
Nice scenery and good kayaking, but very intense guide and unhelpful stops that detracted enjoyment.
The excursion had very nice moments, especially the visit to James Bond Island and the kayaking. However, the guide was too intense, with little freedom and too much pressure to buy. The extra stops were on the itinerary, but I think they should be optional, as they extend the day without adding value; a time at some beach would have enriched the experience much more. Still, the scenery and some sections of the tour were really nice and worth it.
