Iceland South Shore & Glacier Lagoon Day Tour

This trip was long but worth the time and money. The glacier lagoon was the highlight for sure. Our guide Elvar made sure that everything ran smoothly and on schedule and had great stories and information that he shared during the bus ride.

This was one of those trips that stays with you long after you return home. Iceland had already been a place I dreamed of visiting, but it is now, without hesitation, my favourite place I have ever travelled to. The landscapes are almost impossible to describe: glaciers, black beaches, waterfalls, mountains, the ocean, tiny villages and an incredible sense of space. But what stayed with me most was not simply how beautiful Iceland is. It feels strangely different from anywhere I have been before. There are places where the landscape becomes so vast and empty that you almost lose the usual sense of scale. Black lava, moss, mountains, ocean and an enormous sky, sometimes with almost nothing in between. It can feel a little alien, almost as if you have stepped outside the familiar world for a while. There is something about Iceland that makes you feel very small, but in a strangely beautiful way. It is not a place that seems to ask for admiration. It simply exists in its own way, and perhaps that is exactly what makes it so powerful. A big part of what made this tour so special was Kristi. She was much more than a guide; she became a friend. She knew the places, the history, the stories and the landscape, but what I appreciated most was the way she shared them. Nothing ever felt like a rehearsed tourist speech. She made the whole experience feel very natural. There were many moments during the tour when I simply stopped and looked around, thinking that I could not believe I was actually there. Kristi always seemed to know when to give us some context, when to tell a story, and when to simply let the landscape speak for itself. And if there is one thing I am certain about, it is that I will be back in Iceland. And when I do, I already know who I will want as my guide again: Kristi. I have already recommended her to everyone I know who is thinking about visiting Iceland, and I would happily do so again. I came to Iceland hoping to see beautiful places, and I certainly did. But I left with something more difficult to put into words: the feeling of having experienced a place. Iceland is an experience, a mental state, a mood, a feeling. I am genuinely grateful for this experience. Iceland gave me some of the most beautiful memories I have from travelling, and I already know that this is a place I will carry with me for a very long time.

Today was amazing. I learned so much about Iceland and the culture. I was corrected on some beliefs and introduced to many. Not too long of a day. Great value for this priceless experience. We had a full bus and Sven took great care of us all. The weather accommodated us gently.

14 hours tour. We had Rosa as the guide. Very articulate and funny. Weather was terrible but still saw all of the spots. Glacier lagoon, Diamond beach and water fall ( The one that you can go behind) were fun activities. Vik alloted time was a little more than needed. Overall good South Coast trip!
