Itinerary
Rendezvous over Ireland’s finest freshly baked scones, tea & coffee at the House restaurant, 4 Main Street, Howth.
Follow the amazing path around the bottom of Shielmartin Hill towards the breath taking views of Dublin Bay on the sunny side of the Hill
Continue through the heathland and climb to breathtaking views of Dublin Bay crossing the heathers of Shielmartin Hill and make your way to the cliff path that your guides know better than anyone else.
Dublin's best kept secret! The Howth Safari is the only hiking tour that takes you around to the south facing cliffs overlooking Dublin Bay. Spotting the old Irish goat herds along the way and visiting hidden beaches, smugglers caves and panoramic views.
Visit some of the most beautiful and undiscovered beaches in Ireland. Take your time to savour this magical coast only 30 mins from the city centre.
After a short rest at Red Rock, where ships can be seen traversing Dublin Bay towards the port, spot the caves, stacks, and other monuments to the erosive power of the sea along the coastline and get a sense of the coastal habitats of the bay. Ascend gently along the cliff paths by the spectacular Baily Lighthouse.
If you don't want to end in The Summit Inn you can head back down to Howth Harbour by descending the disused tramlines by the steps back to Howth village, returning to the waterfront to end your tour. Please note: Your tour may follow alternative routes for different tides and weather conditions.
Reach the Summit where the world famous views of the Baily Lighthouse, Dublin Bay and the Wicklow mountains will take your breath away. There is an option to end here and have some refreshments.

Traveler reviews
Amazing hike with spectacular views!
This hike was absolutely fantastic! Zach was an incredible guide—extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about the area. He made the entire experience fun, informative, and memorable. Locke was an added bonus and such a treat to have along! The views were absolutely breathtaking and made every step worth it. I highly recommend this hike to anyone looking for an amazing outdoor adventure. I wouldn’t recommend it for children under 10. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, and get ready for an unforgettable experience!
Howth hike
Shane is the absolute best! He knows every inch of the hike and everyone you will meet along the way the way. Such a lovely day!
Howth Coastal Hike
9 of us went on a tour with Sean this morning. Everyone loved it and we learnt so much on the hike. I have previously taken groups with Paul and Zach. They are all fabulous guides and great to get out of Dublin City and see what else there is to explore.
1000/10
This was the best guided hike I have been on. You definitely want to be on the fit side as we did about 7 miles and parts were steep. Guide was friendly and quite knowledgeable about a wide variety of things. He told wonderful stories! I would do this hike again.
Strikingly Beautiful Hike
My guide was a wonderful story teller. The hike was just beautiful. In spite of the clouds and impending rain, we only had minutes here and there of drizzle. A raincoat and waterproof shoes were a must to keep dry.
