Hobart Local Luxury Half-Day Tour

Sonya had detailed historical and cultural information about Tasmania. She made the experience exciting and enjoyable. She had a bubbly personality and tailored the activities to our interests. Sonya knew the best places to spot wildlife. Sonya took us to many unique sights with detailed current and historical significance. She always had plenty of snacks and water. Sonia was our guide for what was supposed to be a 4 hour city tour of Hobart which ended up being 6. She is a wonderful guide. On time, personable, funny—just a joy to be with. She took us to the usual spots: Mt Wellington, Salamanca, etc and explained some unusual things that we wouldn’t have noticed or discovered on our own. What sets her apart from other guides was her ability to ask questions re our interests and then adapt the tour to them. Wish she could be our guide in other cities in Australia! Our tour was booked through our travel agent so I can’t comment on the booking experience.

Our guide, to Maria Island, Jake, was extremely intelligent and informative in his explanations and appropriate conversations. He demonstrated organizational skills in adjusting to our age, physical conditions, and objectives. It was a real treat to be guided by Jake, who also served us a tasty lunch. He made the entire experience meaningful, joyous, and successful. We recommend him as a guide without reservation.

Localing came to the rescue when a flight delay caused us to miss a previously-scheduled all-day tour. With an hour’s notice Sonia appeared at our hotel and brought us on a wonderful 3-hour, afternoon walking tour of Hobart. She gave us a wonderful history of the area, brought us to a special spots throughout the city and offered us a locals knowledge of what makes Tasmania so special. Sonia & Localing quite literally saved the day!

My husband and I recently toured around Tasmania with Penny! We were with her for two full day tours. The first was Port Arthur where we learned all about the history of the port, checked out a historical prison and learned a ton of interesting facts. We detoured a bit to see a Tassi Devil and meet some other animals at the Un-Zoo and topped off day one with a lovely wine and cheese tasting at Bream Creek! Despite some rain- Penny dodged it all, was the best historian, took lots of pics of us and made us excited for day two! Our second day of adventure with Penny was to Maria Island. This was one of our favorite days of our entire trip because we were able to see so many native animals in their habitat. We were lucky enough to see 11 wombats, a bunch of birds and ended with forester kangaroos! Not only did we get to see animals, but we learned a lot about the history of the island and ended the day visiting the town of Richmond and having a pint at a historic English Pub. We know this trip would not have been complete without these days with Penny! We loved all the time we spent with her and were sad to say goodbye at the end of day two.
